It wont open any further as you are only adjusting the The sensor and nothing that allows the TB to open further.

The PCM makes adjustments based off of what it thinks the TB position is based on readings by the sensor. This position is read by the PCM in terms of electrical voltage. Depending on how far off the base line reading is, after correcting it you can see improved idle, throttle response and or improved gas mileage. You may be able to feel or hear the difference after making the adjustment. My Expy was at .83 and after making the adjustment all I can say was that the difference was between night and day! My 02 HD was dead on .99.

Hope that helps some.

how important is it to be under 1?
I checked mine today with my predator and it was exactly 1.00.
Think I should adjust it?

Thanks Stew. I think I will try to get it adjusted here pretty quick to see what happens. Working the midnight shift is a killer sometimes.

No problem

Venom,

I know that .99 is optimum and I dont think that you would notice a big difference from 1.0 to .99. I do know from experience that being off more than .5 and correcting to .99 that your idle will be smoother, more responsive and shifts will feel better. I am sure one of the ALMIGHTY GURUS here will be able to chime in and porvide a good technical explanation better than I have.

OK here is the 10 dollar defintion!

The TPS is a potentiometer that provides a signal to the PCM that is directly proportional to the throttle plate position. The TPS monitors throttle plate movement and position, and transmits an appropriate electrical siganl to the PCM. These signals are used by the PCM to adjust the Air/Fuel mixture, spark timing and EGR operation according to engine load at idel, part throttle, or full throttle. A broken, loose or out of adjustment TPS can cause intermittent bursts of fuel from the injector and an unstable idle because the PCM thinks that throttle is moving.

If you have a predator then you dont need pins or any special connector or volt meter.

Just plug predator in,
TUrn key to on but dont start it
Select Diagnostics
The scroll down and select Gas Trans or Gas Speed (cant remember)
then selelct Choose From List
Scroll down and select TP V
Then select Fast Rate
Then Select NO for Datalog

You will then see the TP V

You have enough cable on the predator to make it out of the CAB and into the Engine Bay so that you can look at it and adjust the TPS to .99.
On my Predator I didn't see anything that said "TP V" are their different Predators out there? Also I had other prompts that aren't mentioned above.

Did you upgrade to the latest revision?

Go here to

http://diablosport.com/Downloads.php

You need the R9 Live data and Tune Updates for Ford Lightning U7158

CLick on the little Diablo Symbol next to it and it tells ya everytthing you need and how to update your predator.

Check through all the tables and see if you can find TP V. In the older revision it may be somewhere else.

D'OH! I forgot about the new Predator revision I'll take care of that when I get home. Also I'll check to see if it's located somewhere else on my current setup.

the old manaul for r7 shows TP V in Gas Trans table.

There should be a bunch of parameters to monitor in the Gas Trans table. Should be way down near the end of the list and right after TCCRAT IIRC.

You must have been reading my mind. I just got back in from lunch and I had a chance to check my TPS reading. It's at 1.4. I forgot to bring a screw driver with me to adjust it. It' been raining like crazy here so today has been the first day to check it without getting drenched. I'll adjust it when I get home.
