Okay, so it's not big and obtrusive like some blingy thing. Just plain and simple. Besides, it's plastic. No LED lights or skulls, ect.

You can find a bazillion different hitch plugs just about anywhere you look. I got one off of eBay that's a Harley bar & shield with wings that's cut from a solid piece of billet....pretty slick, and I've never seen another like it.

One of my favorites is one I saw at Gander Mountain...it was an electronic (hooked up to your trailer power connector). It was a cartoon Buck sitting on the hitch, and when you used your blinkers, the deer pointed in that direction, and when you but on the brakes, he put both hands over his eyes!. It was a real hoot.

BTW... don't forget to get a pair of those big chrome balls to hang under it

Driver: Well I was watching this deer on the back of a guy's truck......

Yep, that's what I believe I'll start with, a basic black one. And later if I come across one that's a must have I'll pick it up.

I don't want to install a hitch for a one time tow if I don't need to.

Let me know if this is a good or bad idea.

When I contacted them this week they gave me nothing but problems with wanting to rent a trailer. They have a car trailer big enough and that is raited high enough to tow the 4dr hd and the truck towing it was going to be an f350 turbo diesel that has towed a some huge tractors with ease through mountains, but they still refused. Good luck with anything from u-haul. I dont recommend the bumper though.

No problems with the hitch and dolly towing. I expected it to burn a lot more gas than it did but there didn't seem to be a noticeable difference. The biggest difference was braking, it took more time to stop than I anticipated.

Glad to hear you had a safe trip. As far as the MPG goes.....if you can maintain a good steady speed without having to slow down/speed up all the time, and don't have to make a lot of stops or pull a lot of hills, you can actually get fairly decent mileage pulling a load. If I'm just running up or down I-95 or the Turnpike down here in Florida, I only loose about 1-2 MPG: not bad for pulling two Harleys & and a two-axle trailer.....

As far as braking goes.....I agree; getting that much rolling mass to slow down is always a challenge (especially in the rain!).
Electronic trailer brakes are the best things since sliced bread!
