Exclamation Is it really THAT loud without cats?

I've been flip-flopping between catted and catless when I pick up my headers. I'm going with OBX (had them in my Mustang too). I'll also be installing a Magnaflow cat-back setup at the same time.

With the Mustang, I had catless with Bassani axle-backs. And yes, it was loud, but not to the point where I was worried about getting pulled over or anything. With some of the posts I've read here and on other boards, going catless with these trucks is like an attempt to wake the dead with the decibel levels you are going to create.

So for those who have gone catless, please tell me your stories. Is it really as insanely, scary loud as others have mentioned?

Thanks for the input

That still leaves two stock cats, though. I'm either looking at no cats, or two high-flows.

But you should indeed chop those damn things off!

It is not "that loud"...but for the common man...yes it is that loud!!!

I love my exhaust....Dyna Tech LT's with high flow cats...with a magnaflow back w/stock exit.

You will be happy removing the front stock cats and replacing the stock mid cats with hi-flow cats.

with a quieter muffler like the magnaflow's it won't be too loud, compared to stock pretty damn loud though.

it's all relative, I daily drive a `97 dohc 32v fobra with no cats, 2.5" h-pipe and 3" flowmaster catback, I can hear that car echoing off buildings when I drive slow with the windows down...

Thanks...yea, I like it also

idling around town and low speed, its got some growl to it and gets some looks definitely

but when you are on the throttle...as my buddy with a black L put it "sounded like a bear jumped in the cab with me when you passed me on the highway!!"

Here is what she sounds like when she is moving

I'm ordering my headers tomorrow... so please keep the opinions rolling in. So far I'm leaning towards no cats.

Keep in mind my state doesn't test for emissions either.

I went catless at first. I could hear it reverberating off buildings a block away during normal acceleration. Maggy high flows went on 2 days later.

tribaltek --> My exhaust system has magnaflow's...so my videos are what you are looking for with that set-up. Just remember, I have Dynatech Longtubes with High-Flow Cats, then the magnaflow back with a stock exit.

When I had the Eaton on there...yes, I filled the SC holes. For the video you are referring to, is the new built motor with a 2.3 Whipple.

Whipple and KB normally sound like that.
