A ported blower shouldnt lose boost, gain if any. But you will probably need to be around 14-16lbs to gain its full advantage.
Something that may give you some piece of mind... J&S Vampire I put one in my truck a couple months ago. It works!! And bgstew is running it with like, 22lbs on his stock block for a couple years now. Actually, his truck was the test mule. Long thread, but lots of good info: J&S Safeguard, Individual Cylinder Knock Control System - Lightning Forum | LightningRodder.com |

@steinjr im just doing the math that they gave me, which i dont get cause i added a 2# and was at 10 so im really lost now but this is what that i was told by stieg porting then i gave him my mods..... 6# lower ups to 14 then he said with the c&l elbow and plenum i should see 1 to 1.5 lbs which depending on the weather i do, then the port i would be at 16... so technically ill be at 14 and change when i get it on me bad on the crank thing...ive talk to a few people all having different lingo sometimes i get confused haha
@ sonichd your talking full advantage of the exhaust system correct? can you give me a quick rundown of the J&S i cant get on the lightning rodder where i am...the net in iraq reads on sites as germany so i cant access alot of them to go look lightningrodder is one of them |

It's not my intent to alarm you. Just trying help make sure you don't become a member of the Vented Block Club.
You can drive the truck normally. Just be careful until you get it tuned for your mods.

@steinjr thanks man... i know it wasnt your intent... i just went with what was recommended on a stock block and it just got a little overwhelming .....so basically with the right tune im good as long as i dont go WOT forever and dont go too high on the boost? now you being just up the road from waco.... besides PSI when would you recommend i take it for a steady tune?

From what I understand PSI is the place to go.
Up here in DFW you have a choice of HPP, Gearheads, and some other speed shops.

Im in no way a wiring guru, and it was a piece of cake! Just took my time, and the instructions are pretty good.
In short, it taps into your factory knock sensor (which Ford could never get to work, they said because of the blower noise) and when it senses knock in any cylinder it retards the timing (via coil wire taps) needed to eliminate the knocking, or detonation. This doesnt mean you will never blow your motor..... but it will certainly protect you in most cases. You can have a dyno tune done, and be spot on, but that tune is done in the conditions you are in at the moment. This system will help protect you from other variables, like colder weather, low octane, bad gas, or the retard who put in regular, when you ask for premuim (here in Oregon, we dont pump our own gas) a bad spark plug, your fuel pump suddenly goes bad, clogged fuel filter, etc. PM stew, he's full of knowledge on this! It is a spendy unit, but whats a new motor cost, especially when your not ready to replace it. As far as me, Im only running a 4lb lower at the moment (with CAI) and see about 11 lbs. Ive got the bassani catted mids and catback for exhaust. Im not worried about it at the moment, but I installed the J&S because 1. there was a group buy & 2. Im waiting on a Magnum Powers case where Im going to be pushing about 17-18lbs. So I wanted some protection before hand (my truck is my DD). We'll see how it goes. But yeah, post up when you get home, we can get something together for sure! Tracks close at end of Oct, and weather starts getting sh*tty, but we can figure something out! Theres a couple of newer guys in my area also I have yet to meet. Oh, and as far as the stance, just a belltech 2/4 drop (springs front, shackles & hangars rear) with L spec billsteins and Hotchkis front/rear sways, lakewood t-bars. ![]() ![]() |

I have had work done at HPP. Manny is a great guy to work with but they focus mainly on Mustangs.
I keep hearing that Patrick at PSI turns out some really sick trucks.
