exhaust

im wondering why alot of people talk highly about the JLP comp-r set up, but not alot of people have it.....ive seen more of the dynatech lt&mp with a different cat.... any reason behind this? or do more people run the comp-r and not talk about it....me of course went with the comp-r after hearing (sicks) lightning....so im looking forward to getting rid of my old set up......

Unless you have the mods to support going to a 3" exhaust... it's much more cost effective to get some headers, hi-flow cats, and muffler.

600 hp range and 16-18 lbs of boost or more. There are lots of threads on the site about 3" exhaust.

Even though the JLP Comp R exhaust will sound awesome... you will loose a lot of torque unless you have the mods to make up for it.

Of course it was a smart buy. It's a great set up! Now you have an excuse to get more mods to support your exhaust.

Are you at 16lbs on a stock block?

Usually 12 - 14psi is pushing the limits of the stock block.

If your gauge reads 10 -12psi then you are fine. Just make sure your tune is spot on.

so should i downgrade the 6# or stick with it? i have a LFP tune at the moment, its not installed because my parts came in the wrong order so i couldnt get them all in on mid tour leave, but when i get back to tx in oct, and get it all on i plan on making the drive to psi...or theres a couple places in dallas the guys at the mustang shop in waco recommended me too...... im starting to wonder if i might have gone a little overboard with my purchases.... so im prob gonna lose some tq like you said , till i get a built motor in but how noticeable will it be? back to the boost though, i talked to a dude with an 02 in wa and hes running 16 on a stock block with an amazon tune and his buddy with a whipple is running 18+ on a stock block and amazon tune

I am glad you found this site. There is a lot of good people with a lot of good advice. I am sure others will chime in.

16 to 18psi on a stock block will put you on the fast track to a blown engine. Your buddies might blow their engines the next time they drive. It might take years... but those levels will ultimately cause engine failure.

If your gauge reads 12psi max then that is your max boost level. You are probably set up for 16psi... but your ported super charger has brought that down.

With out a proper tune installed... I wouldn't go wide open throttle.
