still have some "free" CARFAX reports, may show build date in the section for DETAILED VEHICLE HISTORY. (ran one on my L and got 30JUN2001 as date manufactured). I think the OASIS report also gives this info

ooopsie! In that case, welcome to my painful saga: Ford did not have the foresight to build/maintain a database of BUILD #s. Best bet is to be in touch with the original owner who hopeful kept records.
I was able to track down the first owner of mine (Houston, TX) via DMV (filled out forms, paid fees, got the info). Lori from THTOC helped me get his home phone #, called him: guy has no clue about an owner's plaque!

I already tried (and failed) calling FORD directly, even personally spoke to the Harley Project boss...NO JOY!!! In comparison, I phoned the SVT section for my L: told me to fax Bill of Sale, etc. and done (database updated to puut my name in and I am getting a new SVT certificate in the mail...FREE!!!)

I believe this is why '03 s had the actual build # plaque affixed to the truck itself.

Was the Harley project boss from Michigan and was his name Mike Massara? I was going to check with Mike on this issue for bgstew6 but if you looked him up already then I won't bother.

where is the Plate affixed to the 03 at? Did you mean 04

Nope,

I know where it goes, same place as mine in my 02. I took the term affixed like in riveted in not stuck on with glue.

Guess I will have to have him see if he can contact the previous owner.
