Keystone RA Hood

I'm interested in where to buy the Keystone Ram Air Hood, shown on #356's truck and in the gallery. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Keystone Hood

Thanks #356. I looked on the Summit web site and found a Keystone hood KRE-GHF-100, which looks close to yours. The depth of the scoop looks a little more shallow, however, than yours and on the hood shown on the Hood Gallery. Maybe this is just a different view and lighting?? Is this the right part number?

What's the shipping damage risk on this? Did it come well packaged? Is it ready to paint? or will it need other prep?

Thanks again for your help.

that is the exact reason i never liked this hood until i saw it in person. all the pics online looked like crap IMO and i never liked this hood until one day i saw it on Sue@JLP's black 02 HD.

the scoops do look smaller unpainted, here's a few pics of it unpainted when i 1st got it, and the pic of the packaging and all

http://ftw.truckmoxie.com/mygallery....um=19618&pos=2

shipping was fine, came undamaged and ready for paint, just very minor prep work needed. keystones are one of the best quality hoods out there, and i'm not just saying that, they really are.

Hood Prep

Thanks for the info, #356. A couple of your pics showed the windshield washers on the wiper arms. That got me to thinking about the Keystone hood. Does it come with holes for the washer nozzles, or markings to drill holes? Or will I have to do what you did and relocate the washers? I'm trying to get a handle on all the issues up front, so there won't be any surprises. Anything else I should be aware of? Any idea on the weight delta between OEM and Keystone hoods? Thanks.

stock hood is light as a feather. right about 20 pounds. there's no aftermarket hood thats lighter than it. the fiberglass ones (cervini's, keystone, proglass) run about 40 pounds, and the steel ones (reflexxons) run about 50 pounds. the stock hood struts will still hold them up find though, just needs help getting up, but once its up it stays up fine.

the cervini's hood had a trick way of redoing the washer nozzles. came with 2 flat metal tubes that were really tiny and bolted to the bottom of the cervini's hood and stuck out like 1/8" between the back edge of the hood and the cowl, so the stock squirters didn't have to go on the hood. made a really clean look.

the keystone hood has holes already cutout for the stock squirters to pop right in and you are good to go. I wanted to go for a cleaner look though so i opted to get the squirter holes shaved off the hood completely, then since GM cars come with squirters that clip onto the wiper arms i used those. only my dumb azz went to the local caddy dealer since there aren't any other GM dealers closer, and ended up paying 30 bucks a squirter
little more money this way, but a cleaner look

i say just put the stock squirters in the hood, so i'm still the only one with a keystone hood with shaved squirters ;t LoL! j/k

washers

Thanks #356. Sounds like the conversion is pretty straight forward. I'm planning to use the stock washer setup, so your exclusive wiper mounted washers will still be unique. Thanks for your help.

Hood Install

I took a look at my Keystone hood being installed on my truck yesterday. It's still unpainted, but looks real nice. The folks doing the work said that a lot of aftermarket hoods are junk, but this was very well made - good fit up and no porosity issues. Shipping was a success - no damage. I'm eager to see it painted in a couple of weeks. Anyone hooked up the cold air intake to the supercharger intake? Looks feasible, but not without some engineering. Thanks #356 for your recommendation. Good call.
