Power wire differences question.
I know something about wires, but this one is kind of intriguing me, Can somebody please explain to me what's the difference between these two wires bellow?
-Tinned marine wire -100% oxigen-free copper wire I am asking because I am changing the power and ground wires on my truck's alternator, but I don't want to use the red translucent ones, I want the good and ol' solid color wire, and so far, I could only find the marine tinned one solid red, and I have no clue if I could use it in the truck. So if you know where can I find a 1/0 AWG or 0 AWG power wire in the solid red, please let me know. Thank's |

Thank's Mlel, The reason I ask is because I can't find an automotive 1/0 or 0 AWG wire that isn't translucent, even in the link you posted, they have one in the picture in the color I want, but it's a 2 AWG and only 20' lenght. I browsed for other sizes/lenghts, but couldn't find anything.

I purchased other stuff from
hifisoundconnection before, and I actually checked them yesterday, the problem is, they are advertising two different pictures with the same description, as in:Stinger Pro series, and the link you posted, states "pro series" and the picture shows only "pro", and in the exact color I want, but check this one here so you know what am I talking about. I will have to contact the seller to make sure. Thank's for looking Last edited by Hoffmann; 09-09-2008 at 04:29 AM. |

hoffy...not sure what you have around you. but check out a welding shop. welding lead is THE BEST from what i have found as far as grounding wire. its black and you can get them in all kinds of sizes and it is also some of the most plyable wire you can get too...even moreso then most car audio wire. and im thinking its not to bad on the wallet either.

hoff search on NLOC. there were discussions about this for remote battery setups, and I'm almost positive somebody found a link with welding cable in different colors. Its by far the most efficient way to go for quality of cable and cost. And if you want color and can't find it, buy some silicone rubber tubing loom, and a hose splitter, and loom the welding cable wtih it. will have the smooth jacket appearance like the cable was that color, but not the corregated finish of plastic loom. hitup lowes for copper lugs to solder ends on.
