Time to go bigger...TLines are Sick

Well me and a few buddies have been talking about it for a while and wanted to play with tlines. So we got the biggest subs we had laying around and started planning one for my F150 with a cut through. It still needs alot of tuning and right now i think im having grounding issues with the backup battery. I have only one JL 1000/1 powering the two but have the second back there waiting to get hooked back up when i have the voltage.

Lots of Pics coming....

Its REALLY BIG!

All of it

Now the Fun part

The size of this thing makes the subs look small

Something i wanted to share with everyone that im not sure if anyone has thought of making a box this big and then have to put a top on blindly. Instead of measuring everything back out on the top of the box and taking alot of time, i used a ink blotter/patch and touched it everywhere i wanted a screw and then flipped it. Worked like a charm!

Me painting the box. Im 6'0 tall!

This is a picture of the old box for 4 JL 12w6v2d4 ported next to the new beast 2 13w7 TLine

The box in the bed...no more golf clubs for the time being.

No videos yet. But this thing is just as loud as the 4 12s and has the capability to just drop like nothing i have ever heard. It loves 20-30hz. Over the weekend im going to try to tune it up just a little bit because except for the low low lows it doesnt do much else.

It was a fun project but it was just an experiement. Im going to sell my 12s while they are out and i have something in there and im swinging between either some 15s or 18 inch FI or DCs.

Lemme know what ya think.

lol you should have bought a 2000 HD instead of a 2001 HD, just as slow like you like it haha, but with an extra foot of bed space for an even BIGGER box, if thats even possible! lol

the baffles are two 3/4in glued and screwed together. You dont want the front baffle being weak on the w7s.

Good call josh...but there is no way i couldnt have 4 REAL doors, a real steering wheel etc etc.

i also want to say that in all my years on many different car audio boards and searching i can probably say no one has built a 2 13w7 Transmission Line box.

Oki-I dont think its any "louder" its just louder at a MUCH lower frequency. Meaning instead of it feeling like someone is kicking you in the back, its more like your head is in a vice and you dont know where its comming from. It is the most relentless powerful bass at 20hz i can ever rememeber hearing. The door panels flex back and fourth about an inch EVERY thing moves its insanity. And that is only with 500watts going to each sub. I have another 1000/1 laying around but i have a electrical issue im going to try and figure out this weekend. along with a few other things. If your anywhere near op or jax you NEED to hear this. It is wierd how it performs. It sounds way different than any box i have ever built. Very cool.

Aww now come on, you can't handle having to swing open a BIGGER front door, and make the passengers have to just deal with a smaller rear door? lol You're making them suffer from the insane bass anyhow! More room for you up front with the extended cab doors
As for the wheel, haha ya got me there, I can't wait to swap this wheel out for a 01 wheel in my new truck

Anyhow, out of curiosity, what makes this a t-line box? I'm a stereo novice, so sorry if its a dumb question lol

honestly i am a novice in tlines also. I am learning as i go. The real brains behind the idea is a friend of mine who did all the math and came up with the design of the box.

well what classifies it as a T-line? The shapes of the baffles, etc? Just curious where the name comes from.

it is short for Transmission Line and/or Quarter Wave Folded Horn. It allows the sub to act as if its free air. Meaning it has no pressure from the front or rear of the cone and allows it to be extremely efficent. With only 1 1000/1v2 i have the dash moving major major Door flex and emmese amounts of pressure. Now i have both 1000/1s hooked up and it seems i have finally hit the roof of what the stock alt can put out. I have been looking at a h/o alt for a while and know which one i want.

I might need some help from the NHTOC brothers here in a bit. On SteveMeadeDesigns.com there is a contest this month. For system of the month on the website the winner gets a H/O alt from DCPowerInc.Com. What is cool about this is if i win i would get the H/o alt and since they make a dual alt bracket for my truck i would also get the bracket!!!!!! so thats a 270amp alt and the bracket to run my stock for the truck and the 270 for the system.

check it out!
