i believe the tow rating is somewhere in the 4K range because of the tires being the limiting factor? Throw on a better set of tires and towing 5K isnt an issue any longer

alright guys... i put a frame hitch on my HD... four 1" bolts holding it to the frame.... how much would you recommend towing? about the same... around 4K? i'm looking at getting a 19ft enclosed trailer to haul a bunch of atvs with just want to make sure the HD can handle it

I used to have a 24' enclosed trailer that I pulled my Cobra Jet to shows in. The truck handled it well, hills were a challenge, but never a problem. I have the frame hitch as well and used weight distribution hitch ball. I didn't like the enclosed box pulling down the road. Sold it and got an open trailer. Tows much better, better gas mileage, less weight. Don't know it is back there. Biggest tip, make sure you put the air pressure on the tires to the max sidewall when towing. My rig with the enclosed was estimated at about 7,400, now more like 4500.

i emailed them to see how much that 19 footer weighs... each atv weighs about 400lbs... the max i'd prob carry 4-5.... probably i'll be carrying 2-3 plus some camping gear. i want an enclosed to be able to use as a small RV upfront. i appreciate the help. i hope it'll work cause it's a great deal on that enclosed

I just towed my CJ from East TN to Nashville & back with the open trailer. You barely know it is back there. Got 12 mpg towing. You can't ask for more than that. Towing with the enclosed, best mpg was 10 with average around 9, sometimes as low as 7, not good.
