New2 HD & plans are what to do

New to the forum as I just purchased an 03 HD with 6,400 miles on it. Couldn't pass the deal and you could still smell the leather.
Here are my plans http://www.rpmoutlet.com/lightning.htm option d and e +8# pulley SCT Programmer (don't want to add an additional boost gauge)
and then maybe adding a snow methenol injection system

My goal is to have an every day driver but with a nice shot when WOT is needed. Not looking to make a drag vehicle. Most would say keep it stock, but if that was the case I would have got a truck without a SC on it already.

Here is my question can the motor handle it? I've been reading and reading for the last month and never seem to come to a final conclusion of what i should do and how much it can take.

Any thoughts and concerns may help
Thanks

welcome to the site!

obviously there are limits as to what the stock block can take, but for the majority of instances of failure or venting the block, it is all in the tune. either its canned tune, sh!tty dyno tune, email tune that wasn't tweaked, etc.

Each truck likes mods differently. Each truck has more limitations than others. It is hard to say what your engine can and can't take. Just ask Stew (bgstew6).

I would avoide RPM like everyone has stated. Also avoid the 8# lower, you can be safe and go with a 6# lower or what Garrett stated.

Congrats on the new truck and post up some pics.

LOL

I would stay away from RPM outlet....

I still, like always recommend
6lb lower, stock upper good for 12lbs of boost
Appropriate lenght SC belt
MAF extender
new plugs gapped accordingly
TUning device
Dialed in custom Dyno Tune
Aftermarket Tranny valve body upgrade

THen you can use all that other money that you were gonna spend on better tires, upgraded shocks, improved front and rear sways etc.

Proven combo, good for 380ish RWHP and loads of smiles....how long before you get tired of it and wanting more LOL is really dependent on what you true goals are.

HP is addictive and the modbug bites hard.

Big welcome. where are you located? I would +1 what others have mentioned. If you want WOT, you need to protect that engine with a safe tune ( hence find a reputable Ford Hi-Po shop that tunes Lightnings or HD's)

I purchased from RPM and got a great deal on my Headers and exhaust about two years ago, but now we have SV's that are coming out with way better products for that. So stick with our SV's and get it.
Wow 6400 miles, , must be sweet.....

I have used RPM outlet for almost 85% of my mods with NO bad luck, but I hear I am one of the rare cases. SO you decide. I have a 8# lower and 2.8 upper, but as Stew said a 6# lower and a good tune may be better. I think I may go back with the 6# after my Whipple install!

Welcome and good luck with your future MODS. They are indeed...ADDICTIVE!!!!

i will be running the L upper with the 10" lower (10 lbs) with the ported blower and a little shot of the bottle....

i should clear 500 rwhp 600+ rwtq

The best setup as they say is teh 6lb lower and L upper with a intake a MAFIA and a VB and that normally makes most people happy...

pics

You guys are AWSOME!
Wasn't expecting so many responses.
THANKS!

I'm blown away of how everyone made me feel welcome

Heard there was a lot of knowlege/experience on this site that people are not afraid to share.

I live in Tacoma, Washington and am unaware of good tuning shops in the area as being new to the truck seen. A coupke of friends metioned Olympic Offroad, but seem to be more of the jack it up and put big tires on it seen. Not looking for that.

Was looking at RPM just because bang for the buck they seem a bit more reasonable, but good looking out.

Hope the pics post. I had to drive this thing 230 miles one way to get it home. Not complaining at all brcause the price was more than just right and so were the miles. Plastic still on the inside emblems and sweat arm rest cover. Took me 3 months to find this one! Well worth the wait.

I look forward to any other information that people drop my way and will contiue to pass the information like you guys or girls (just incase).

So is it worth putting on the heat exchanger for my semi stock goals?

These things are an addiction!
