you dont have to seperate the IC from the midplate.....the bolts that hold it to the midplate are torque to yield and if you remove them then you should replace them along with the gasket, but again no need for it...
Unless you mess the metal gaskets up between the Midplate and lower intake manifold and the metal gaket between the SC and midplate..then you dont have to replace them.... I have done around/over 10 IC cleanings and never had to replace any gasket...all the trucks are still running just fine with no issues.... Just my .02 |

Forget the bolts.
I can't remember exactly which gasket you might need to replace. If you buy all 3 at list you'll spend about $100. IIRC the bolts are $3-4 apiece. So look at spending around $150 total if you repalce all that. The Ford Quality Care that did mine only replaced a gasket. Tazz |

Blairtruck, those are great links!
In theory, I'm planning on tackling this sometime soon, but may have someone do it till I feel more comfortable around the engine. Tazz, if you don't mind me asking, what did Ford Quality Care charge for that? Thanks |

He took his time. Book time is 6hrs just for the SC R&R and 2hrs for the plugs. I was there for 4 of the 6hrs waiting and saw him on the truck. When he took a lunch I took a 2 hr lunch. Took his time and made sure everything was correct. Took 45 min to clean the inner cooler with about 3 can of brake fluid wire brush towels and compressed air. I know it can be done faster but if you only do a handful a year than you should take your time. That's like JL can do a plug change in 30min most places including Ford the fastest Iv'e seen is 1hr and 20 min. Id rather have a person take there time than Fup the job.

had my blower on and off 6 times in the first 200 miles of the new engine
1st time probably will take you 4-6 hours, just taking your time, noting where things go, making sure everythings correct. its nothing unusual. of course by the 6th time i was ripping my blower off i could R&R it in no time flat, but of course doing it so many times so soon together would lead to that ![]() reused all the bolts and gaskets every time. no issues Last edited by Harley#356; 05-12-2006 at 11:52 AM.. |
