There needs to be a ball valve or something similar in the bowl of the oil seperator so you can run a tube back into the valve covers or somewhere. With no vacume, the oil would drain out of the bowl and back into the engine.

This would resolve the need to empty the bowl. Only problem is the ball valve sticking shut.

I'm glad this thread is still helping!
Ford definitely *should* do something about the problem though.

Mine's an 02 with 11k miles on it so not as bad as some but I don't know.

Thanks again!!

FYI for guys having trouble finding the separator.
I was at the local Harbor Freight store a few days ago and saw they had the amflo separator like I used and a couple of different sized campbell hausfields.
I think they were between $20-$25

Just want to thank VENOM publicly here for helping me with finding a 3/8" 90-degree elbow. I used a bigger oil sep (smaller ones use a 1/4 "). Pix of BIG

Just went to Lowe's and got that deer in headlights look when I mentioned the "oil separater".

Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow.

Sky,

Go to the power tools section. Look for the Air Tools you will find it near by. Technically it is not called an oil Separator. We just happen to have adapted it for that purpose. Its intended purpose is to separate moisture out of the Air Lines before entering your air powered tools.

I know exactly what you are talking about. TIP: print some of the pictures and bring it with you. (Warning: still got the same deer in headlights look )

The "deer in the headlights" then they say, "What's this goin' on?". And the confusion on their face only rises from there.
