Exclamation Broken Temp Sensor!!!!

Anyone else have this happen?

I was washing my truck today and noticed a wire hanging down. It had half of the sensor still attached to it. I had no idea what it was. Stew knew what it was immediately... it's my LFP eFan temp sensor.

It appears that the sensor dry rotted or something and crumbled. Local parts stores don't carry this part.

Mark... can I get you to send me a replacement?

LFP Fluid Temp Sensor

You install our fan, install our fluid temp sensor, which by the way is located on the under side of the engine by oil filter, monitoring block fluid temps.
Months go by maybe even a year or two and it comes up broken. Could possibly, just possibly the sensor have been hit maybe by road debris? A stone, a rock?
It didn't brake all by itself. In the 8 years we have been building the E-fan I have replaced non from mysteriously braking. I have on a handful of occasions replaced one when customers, when installing, over tightened the nut and pushed the post in. And one or two when they were defective and didn't work at all.
The 2nd fan built is on my truck. 8 years and sensor is fine as is over 1000 other e-fans.
Another vendor has sold, as many or more using the same sensor. If it was a sensor issue neither of us would be using them.
If you would like to discuss your sensor give me a call Monday. I'll be in at 8:30am CT.

Thank you all for your support. We are up and running 100% as of this past Monday after being hit by IKE. Thank all or called and emailed with your thoughts and prayers.
Please let me know if there is something you may need or are looking for? Jesse, Mike, Myself and Justin are available from 8:30am CT to 5:00pm CT. Monday-Friday.
Have a great weekend and I'll speak to you all again soon.

My temp sender crumbled like that after being a few years old, but it was when I was removing it from my N/A motor to put in my first S/C motor. Broke when taking it off, but Mark was quick to replace it

Mark, any updates on the latest version of the e-fan harnesses? My fan runs on high speed when it kicks on, then turns to LOW speed when the high speed override is hit, or when the A/C compressor kicks on. Thats a bit backwards

I am not crying foul. I just can't find a replacement. Do you know of a replacement or where I can get this part locally?

The fan works with the A/C on and the high speed switch works also. I have already plugged the hole until I can get a new sensor.

I doubt it was road debris. The sensor is pretty high up and guarded by the oil filter and other structures.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I am glad you have already recovered from Ike.

mark was quick to replace it at a charge of......? when my harness on the 500 EFAn went bad twice mark told me "Yeah it was cheap relays and yadda yadda and if you want the new style harness it will be 150 shipped" Meanwhile everyone else who b!tched got a replacement free of charge because there was obviously a recall on these, but I had to wait 3 weeks for a new one and pay 150 for it....

Was that for the other guy regarding the temp sender, or me with the new style e-fan harness seeming to run on low when it should be on high, and running on high when it should be on low

Not looking forward to replacing the harness again, since the KB has to come off in order for me to pull that trim piece along the firewall with the harness behind it

Mark took care of the issue no questions asked.

I have purchased MANY items from LFP and never had any issues with service.

Some of the items I have purchased include a polished Whipple (lowest price of all supporting vendors), twin Walbro 255 pumps and supporting mods, e-fan, MAFia, a SBTB and a few other things I can't recall at the moment.

He has always been a top notch supporting vendor for me.

PLEASE don't let the opinions of a few over ride the experience of many.
