New England Lightnings/Harleys

Interested in an informal get together? There's a pretty neat car show up here in Springfield every summer, and this year it's August 17th. It's called the Tuned By Tuna Show, and it's a benefit for the local Shriner's Hospital for kids. Entry is peanuts ($10.00) for driver and passenger. The Cruise past the Hospital is pretty neat, as you're escorted by the state police, and there are ALL kinds of vehicles (some very loud ones) in that cruise.

Sarat Ford is a local SVT dealer and they are one of the major sponsors. Two years ago we had two Lightnings and one Harley. Last year I was the only Lightning in the show, and I wound up with the corvettes because I was a little late getting there. As a former corvette owner I didn't mind too much, but look how weird it was:

I'm pretty sure Sarat will have their Saleen F150 there, plus the Ford GT, Saleen Mustangs, and probably a Shelby GT500. They usually bring about 7-10 vehicles.

I've always seen these pictures of a huge group of Lightnings from gatherings down south (they do have a weather advantage), but it would be neat to get a dozen or more from New England. Heck, somebody might actually win a trophy! I think some guys are coming up from Danbury, CT and one Lightning from Long Island! So maybe if we can get a decent group we can stage a "Gathering of Lightnings" throw-down picture for our friends down south! The guy that runs the show told me if we can get 10-15 trucks, he'll reserve a special area for us.

Here's a link for those who are interested:

Car Show

Here's a partial list of Lightning/Harley Folks who are trying to make it:

August 17th is a Sunday

CBRF150... we'll keep rattling the cages. Looks like a lot of folks from CT, Harleys & Lightnings. If anyone is looking to sell any parts, it would probably be a great opportunity to yak with each other and spread the word, also probably a good place to put a For Sale sign on your truck if you're so inclined. I'm sure Chris Nelson is thinking about that as his Lightning is for sale.

I forget whether I mentioned the specific date to Paul when I was in the shop a couple of weeks ago, but if you could get him to come I'm sure everyone would be floored after looking at Total Induction's workmanship. BTW, Chris Nelson had mentioned to me that a friend of his had a black Harley that was probably parked at your shop. Is that your Harley I saw outside?

I work over at the shop with Paul... When were you at the shop? And yes that is my truck. Maybe I'll take his black lightning to the show instead of my HD...

To all folks interested in attending, I'll be there NLT 9:00AM on Sunday morning to make sure we have a secure spot and we're not spread out.

For those who have responded via PM/email, I will send out a contact list via email later tonight so that those who are coming from a distance might hook up enroute.

See you guys Sunday Morning!

PeterMac's Lightning vented its block last week and he's supposed to be riding up with me... maybe he'll drive your H-D up there and back for you.
I haven't heard from him yet though. But, he did drive by my house in the M-B about 4 hours ago..

While doing some last minute "getting stuff together" I just realized that the flyer for the car show doesn't have a physical address listed for the location for the event...

I know it's at Smith & Wesson SO, I'm just going to plug into the GPS their business address of 2100 Roosevelt Ave, Springfield, MA 01104 and hope for the best..

Jim, Jeff, Pete, Bob & Family, Keith... great to meet everyone and I hope you guys had a good time. I know the awards were a little lengthy, but it was a great day for a car show and we certainly saw some interesting cars, trucks, and bikes.

I have to apologize for forgetting the actual street address, but Jeff you did the right thing because it was in Smith & Wesson's parking lot and grounds. Lets stay in touch!
