Automated License Plate Recognition

I don't remember if it was posted before, but here we go.

The video here is from Florida Police, but I read they are using this system here in Jersey also.

I think it's a great idea makes the Police work easier and more accurate to catch the bad boys on the run

Just make sure you're up to date with your documentation

What good is that gonna do?
You would need to have it in Hide mode at all times and at that point It would be illegal in most States if not all to Hide your plate from view. Even if you saw the officer and flipped the switch to "hide" the plate the officer could still pull you over if he didnt see the plate because in hide mode.

Though it's kinda neat and would suspect the way it works is similar to the way the Liquid crystal display of a calculator. Where a current aligns the liquid crystal so that it will be seen via a filter as a darkened area to "hide" the plate.

I saw a Mythbusters episode where they debunked ALL of the plate hiding gadgets. None of them blocked the plate numbers from the camera.

I saw that episode and the revisited episode also but that Hide a plate on the website listed was not tested to my knowlege.
All the ones tested were either "paints" or "plastic lenses covers" that supossedly scatted the light so as not to be photographed which none worked.

In addition the Hide a plate would be illegal in all states since it Does blacken out the whole LP so that it couldnt be seen.
I did go to the Website and it does state that it uses an electric current from your battery meaning it probably does act exactly how a calc LC display works and does actually blacken out the LP. I dont know for sure but I could see excatly how that would work since Ive played around with LC displays.
