Calling All Jacksonville Members!!!!

As some of you may have seen I had two good friends of mine killed over the weekend. They went out to a bar/club that have visited almost every week since it opened. The night i was supposed to join them, but didnt, they were involved in a scuffle that led to them being stabbed to death in the parking lot.

David "Wiley" Smith was 24 years old. He was engaged to his highschool sweetheart and excited about his weeding they had planned for August of next year. He and I played football in high school together and became good friends. I learned to drive a stick in his 93 Ford Mustang 4cyl. Over the years he and I kept in touch and always seemed to run into eachother in different places. Easily one of the nicest guys i have met.

Kevin Martin was also 24 years old. Kevin and I played basketball almost every day in highschool. He gave me rides home almost every day of my Sophomore year. Kevin was a fun guy. There wasnt a weekend that went by that he didnt have friends over at his house to have a good time. He also was one of the nicest most caring guys i have ever met. All the pictures that i have seen of him its hard to find one that he isnt hugging a girl or one of his boys.

Both of these guys went out that night not looking for trouble but trouble found them. Now today they are not with us. I was planning on joining them that night and decided at the last moment not to. I really wish i could have been there. Maybe i could have defused the situation, or maybe just my presence would have deterred whoever they were up against. At the same time, i realize that there is no doubt that i would have been wrapped up in the same situation they were and i could have possibly been laying in the parking lot right next to them. I will probably toss back and fourth on the decisions I made that night forever.

Kevin Martins family is not sure how financially they are going to pay for his burial. Me and a couple of his friends have setup a benefit for Kevins funeral. If any of the NHTOC brothers would like to come and possibly donate, everything is greatly appreciated.

There will be food for everyone. We will be setting up beer pong tables. It will be $5 to play with all the money going to Kevins Family. There will also be raffles for hooters wings and much more. Again if anyone can attend it will be greatly appreciated.

Always tell people how you feel about them. Be quick to forgive a real friend. It could be the last time you see them.

Condolences!!!! Can feel your pain. I'd say KARMA WAS WITH YOU!!! Back in the early 70's I too lost 2 friends but to a car wreck. I was suppose to have gone with them that nite but had returned home from college later than expected and missed them. I arrived at the scene right after the accident happened.

To this day I can still see the dead body's of my Friends. Conceder yourself blessed by not being there and take heed to the warning. No one is safe these days and life is an over looked gift with no guarantee. Wish you the best getting over this event in your life. I'd say you may have dodged the bullet so to speak, as I did.
