I have an acquaintance that uses adapters to do the very same thing. The offset and backspace of his wheels accommodate the additional thickness of the adapter, however. This issue really limits selection of wheels. If you wanted to use other wheels of whatever offset is offered, then you will obviously be subject to widening the stance by 2". He has not had any problems but I, personally, would not use them. I would certainly think there would be fender well clearance issues on a lowered truck. If I were really motivated to have the newer 6-lug pattern, then I would have the hubs/rotors re-machined to use lug-bolts and not lug-nuts. I know, I know! ... lot more time and money! But then the options for wheel selection would be endless!

I have thought the same thing, I would love to upgrade the the newer style 22's but that dang lug pattern had to change. I've put serious though into mod but I have no idea on where to even start. Would it be possible to order a front hub assembly and rear axles that fit's our trucks but has been drilled with the 6x135 bolt pattern, I wouldn't want to drill the pattern into my existing hubs, too many holes IMO.
