Found my elusive rattle but then another problem
Well...finally had some time to get up under the truck this past weekend and went searching for that elusive rattle I keep hearing.
Turns out it is the driver side high flow dynatech mid. Hit it with the mallet and you heard pieces rattling around inside there and then I hit the exhuast further back and you could really here it. Now, what to do...got other expenses to take care of at this point so I guess I am going to have to just live with it for some time longer. So then since I am under the truck I replace the bushings for the Helwig front sway-bar as a few of them had cracked under the pressure (and since I called Helwig and they sent me a completely new set free of charge) Get that done and then go to bolt up the bar to the U frame mounts (you know the ones that go around the big bushing that actually holds the bar). Well, the damn 3/8 threads in the frame strip out on the driver's side, so I tap it out to 7/16 and put 2 newly purchased Grade 8 bolts in there. Get it all bolted up and then POP!! The bolt closest to the front bumper strips out of the mount. So basically at this point, the front sway bar is bolted on with 3 of the 4 bolts (both on the passenger side and 1 on the driver side) I don't think a bigger bolt will fit through the U mount that holds the bar to the frame and it seems like the hole is stripping bigger. What to do? ![]() ![]() ![]()

Quote:
I assume you mean burn in a bolt in the existing hole and then I just run the mount onto the bolt and take a nut and screw it down tight? Like this? Sorry for the bad pic, but you get the idea
