Lightbulb Newbie from LA

Hi all

New to the site from SE Louisiana. I don't have a HD but I am thinking about possibly picking up an 02/03 in a few months.

Just checking out all I can about the 02/03s. The good and the bad.

The DD Tahoe just isn't fun enough and I drove an 02 Lightning at work but I need a back seat for the little ones, so here I am and

Kevin

Welcome aboard:

Lil breakdown:

Good
Come supercharged from the factory and very easy to start modding and make into whatever type of street monster you want
4 full doors with captain's chairs make lots of room for you and the family, and you can find a "How To" on the site to do the 3 rear seat mod if you need more room.
Just like any other full size truck, if you stay out of boost your gas mileage is not that bad at all
We can help you with any advice or how to spend you money on mods

The Bad
02 spark plugs are 6 thread instead of 8 in the 03 version, so popping plugs is well known
when you do stomp on her, she sucks gas like a hoover
once you start modding you will never stop
We can help you with any advice or how to spend you money on mods

I just bought an 02 DSG and love it man! I have a 02 L and 03 cobra so I know how they all are to have fun with. The Harley is by far the best of all worlds right now! I really love the inside of the truck and wish I would of bought one brand new instead of the L! I saw a bunch on craigslist in texas just a few weeks ago, and there are some nice ones for sell on here as well.

I am not ready to pull the trigger just yet. I need to pay off some debt first. Hopefully in sa few months. I just missed out on one here in LA. 94slowbra's 02. I am just going to hang out here so I know what to look for when the time comes.

I am not even sure if I want anyone other than black. I already had an 03 DSG Supercrew years ago and I am not sure if I am sold on the "Shamu". Oh well I still have time to decide.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. :

Still lurking!

Talked to my finance company and I can't finance anything older than an 03. Now that the "Shamu" is starting to wear on me I find out the wife doesn't like it. I guess since she will be part owner I guess I have to play along right?

So now I have to find an unmodded, reasonably priced, 03 in all black. That shouldn't be too hard!

Wish me luck.

Tell her the 2 tones get better mileage and are better for the environment since black retains heat, and therefore causes global warming:-)

Check the lower pulley bolts to see if they have been touched recently. Sure sign of someone "demodding" before they sold their ride. Helps if you truly want an unmodded truck. A modded truck doesn't necessarily mean an abused truck, so don't count them out 100%, some of our members have sold their pristine modded rides. A quick search of their name will give you a good history of the truck and what it's been through.

Hope this helps.
