New HD owner in Yukon, OK

Hello to everyone from Yukon, Oklahoma. I just picked up a 2002 SCd HD w/ 79k on it. Everything so far seems to be stock. Only thing so far is the transmission shifts HARD when you stand on it, but driving normal it is perfect. So Im hopeing to get into it and find out it has a performance valve body, shift kit... or something. I just dont want to find out it needs work.

I have owned Mustangs since I was 14. This is my first time to ever be without one. I sold my 06 GT to get this HD. Decided to sale when my wife and I found out we were pregnant with our second. So had to get something a little more family friendly. What better way to do that then with a slick looking supercharged 5.4 truck?

So, I look forward to getting to know alot of you. I watched one members 14 short clips on how to clean out the supercharger and intercooler which was very helpful. Thats what lead me here.

I have been working on getting the truck all cleaned and to my standards of clean, which are kind of rediculous. Im picky about my cars, which I suspect is a normal and shared trait among alot of members with these type of vehicles. It was in well kept condition when I purchased it from the original owner, but I want to put my touch on it. Ill be posting pictures once I get it all done up.

Welcome aboard.

Definitely sounds like you have a VB in there if she is shifting that hard when you are on it and feels normal at regular driving.

Do all the routine maintance on that truck now just to be sure and safe. As you probably have already figured out, we will help with anything you need...and that includes on how to empty your wallet!!!

Can't wait to see some pics...make sure you take alot all over...underneath, engine, interior, and exterior

Welcome to the site. I lived in Moore OK for 10 years before moving to Alaska. Still have a house there for rental property. Your firm shift could possibly be an FTVB, Factory Tech Valve Body being installed in your tranny by the previous owner. It does provide this feeling as well.

Routine maintance is exactly what I plan on doing. Luckily only owner before me had all his done at a dealership and there is record of it. But even knowing that, Im planning on doing a SC clean (and filling the silencer holes while Im at it), plugs, belt, fuel filter.... all the normal stuff. That way I start clean on it.

As for the pictures, I will deffinitly be taking as many as possible. I just purchased a D90 Nikon right before I got the truck. Im dying to get out and get some good shots.

Very cool. I have several friends that live in Moore.

Im really hopeing that the shifting is just a VB. The trans fluid is clean and doesnt seem to be burnt at all. I will be getting after alot of it this Saturday and Sunday.

Heres one of the only pics I have so far. I was actually playing with the camera trying to catch one of our Oklahoma lightning storms. I took this one just playing with the shutter speed. There will be SEVERAL more soon.
