newbie

Hello everyone new to the forum. So much good stuff all in one forum. I do have a question though. I have a 2002 HD fully stock and aroud almost 80,000 miles i noticed yesterday the supercharger started acting funny. I looked around the forum couldn't find anything on it....and don't know the best place to post this issue. It doesn't act up without a load or under 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. Any throttle under a load over 1/2 throttle it sounds like the supercharger is stuttering then it will clear up for a second the start doing it again. Any suggestions.

Welcome! Sounds like a good time to pull the supercharger and clean the intercooler and change plugs. intercoolers get caked with oil really bad. And you need/should add a oil seperator. L&S is a really good one. L&S is a vender on here.
Oh and when the charger is off you can check the rotor to see what kind of condition they are in.

Thanks even though I've had the truck for a few years haven't done much to it. Stick to build fox mustangs. I like being able to go crank the truck and go where I want. What plugs would you suggest. Whats all entailed it pulling the supercharger?

Welcome! Did you get any coil packs wet? That is a pain to deal with and might be perceived as supercharger cutting out.

No nothing wet. Couldn't tell you the last time they could of got wet. The reason I'm saying the supercharger is the whine ( for lack of better term) will start breaking up then clear up for a second then start breaking up. With all the plugs I've changed in my life time these are the only one's that have scared me. Affraid of stripping the head or launching one.

There are a couple of How-To's on how to pull the charger, not to bad of a deal. ***The Complete "How-To" Listing of Articles*** (Need a how-to? You'll find it here!)
I would suggest NKG's (I think) Been a long time since I changed mine but only like 10K miles ago LOL. And just make sure you torque them correctly and you'll be fine.
Interesting info about the whine or lack there of. Maybe belt problems?

Welcome aboard...cleaning the intercooler and installing an oil seperator is easy...plenty of instruciton in the HOW TO section or just organize a GTG with some peeps local to you who know how and have some fun working on multiple trucks

Sounds like it's detonating, I would check to make sure the intercooler coolant pump is working properly.

Cool I appreciate it. What oil seperator does everyone use? And which brand plugs/number.

Oil Sep
Most folks here agree the L&S oil separator works the best. "It ain't got no bling but it really does it's thing."

Plugs
If your'e putting on a 6lb lower pulley while you're cleaning the I/C then the NGK TR6 are what folks here like.

Mods
The basic "wake up" mod is lower pulley, plugs and tune.

Ordered the seperator. Do I need to go anywhere special to get the plugs? Can't seem to find them.
