    Laugh lowering kits

Hi, I'm planning on lowering my 01 harley, from what I understand they come an inch lower from ford. Beltech offers a kit for the harley a 2/3 drop, anyone out ther use this kit? I will be running a 285-50-20 tire on my summer wheels I don't want them to rub. I also would like to retain the rake, not only for looks but also for when the bed has a load in it, will this kit level the truck. Thanks for your replies, any other kits to recomend for what I want to do?

You sure about that drop from Ford. It was my understanding that the 1 inch drop didn't occur until the '02 came out. I have an '01 and a 2/3 drop would be nothing for the truck to handle. I was actually thinking 3/3 drop.

    Just my thoughts...

you need AT LEAST a 2 inch difference front to rear to level out the truck (03 anyways) I actually believe its more like 2 and a half to get em dead on even but my 1/3 is pretty close.

ALL hd's are 1" lower than a regular f150 from the factory. its not a special 02 and up thing. all HD's and L's are 1" lower...the drop comes from the springs and leafs.

285/50 is a pretty tall tire. will work fine with stock, or just 2" rear drop, but you'll probably get some rubbing with any more than that. tattoostuff put his expy's 20's with 285/50 rubber on his HD with his drop (about 1.5" front and 3.5" rear) and it rubbed alot up front on bumps and dips.

I would suggest doing a 1/3 drop to get the truck out of the sky and closer to the ground without being too low. some belltech front drop springs and JLP 3" rear shackles (called the 2-3-4" shackle...really only 3" though) should do the trick nicely. you'll lose the rake, but the rear doesn't sag too much at all with a load in the bed.

thanks for the repies so far, I put the 285 tires on my centerlines cause I wanted a beefier look and to protect the rim, they are pretty tall, I had these on my 98 f150 with a 3/4 drop and they rubbed up front so I wanted to check into this 2/3 kit for the harley, any problems with the pinion angle? did you guys change the camber bolts?

well as I answered in you post over on the suspension forum...

I thought the Bell tech rode like a$$ so I should have sold mine after about 72 hours. Whether I used the Bell Tech crap shocks, Edelbrock IAS's it was on the bumpstops all the time.
