2000 HD Owners, where did you install your amps?

I'm replacing the factory stereo, speakers and will be adding an amplifier also.
I've seen some amp installs done under the passenger seat, but what the heck do you do with the jack afterwards?
Any suggestions as far as locations for the install?

If I still had my 2000 I would have put it under the rear seat I think. There really is no room anywhere else that I could think off. In front off the console maybe but I am not sure how good that would look.

I've never taken the back part of the back seat out, so i'm not sure if this could work, but there is some room back there, maybe it would fit? I'm pretty sure the seat back pops off somehow...its in the manual somewhere's.

Let us know where you go with

I can speak for the '02... the rear compartments behind the rear seats are great for larger amps. I took my jack out of the storage compartment & moved it to the bed. Since the '02's have the rear buckets only a small, very low-profile amp could go under the rear seats. Since the seats "flip" forward.

Under the pass front seat is out... no room.

Taking the rear panel off is no biggie. I even got mine out without removing the rear seats.

If you are running big amps... I would take the center "panel" behind the console. that little "door" that is stationary & remove it. Drill a bunch of 1/2" holes in it & cover it in black speaker grill cloth for estetics. Then put 2 5" fans behind it on a bracket to pull air in to ventilate the cargo area... thats what i am doing now.

Not that it's an '00, but you can do what St Louis Harley does - let it rattle around in the back seat. ;)

I put a 700 watt X 5 channel Hifonics Zeuss under the front seat. I took the jack and put in in a small toolbox in the rear. I mounted the amp to a 1/4" thick piece of grey Plexiglass with flat high polished edges. Looks pretty nice. I'd take pictures right now, but my garage is unheated, it's an ice storm outside, and I'm nice and comfy in my shorts. Any questions, feel free to drop me a PM.

Did you say mount? I only mount Harley Owners and they amplify me! You need the detailed How-To's?

I put mine under the passenger seat and just thought about something, i might be able to put the jack in the console and put something in there to keep it from moving aroung, ill have to try that, hold on.

yea that worked really well, you just have to take it out of the holder and it all fits inside there under the tray
