Hotchkis drop leafs in the rear (2")
Bell Tec 2" shackles in rear (1 or 2")
    4 new bilstien shocks

ok am i crazy or will that give me a net 1" drop up front
and 3" or 4 " in the rear with hotchkis ride feel out back

my only other question aside from whats your opinion would be pinion angle?

    flat out

    your logic seems right...

I am finding that the hotchkis is the "ultimate" But I dont know if the bell tech shackles will be able to handle (bad pun) the extra loads of the hotchkis leaf...

I am not saying there is a problem. I just dont know if the hotchkis leafs add more stress because of their construction.

When I was working lowering & lifting trucks, most the time new leaf springs came with new, reinforced shackles.

Aytron would be the best one to PM about what comes with the Hotchkis

    Good luck

The Hotchkis spring and leaf kit comes with...

    1" drop coil springs

Shorter front bump stops ( urethane )

Coil spring isolators ( urethane )

    2" leaf springs ( 3 leafs compared to factory's 5 )

    No shackles, no rear bumpstops.

I bought a set of Energy Suspenion shorty bumpstops for the rear at pep Boy's. They were like $7 or $8. I ran the Hotchkis rear springs and Bell Tech shackles for a while on my Lightning with no adverse affects and I'll probably add the shackles later on once my truck settles. I'm looking for a nice level look, maybe a 1/2" rake at the most.

    hey Rob

How do the Hotchkis leaf spring ride? are they chuck wagon hard or ??

So right now you have the front coils & the hotchkis leaves... no shackles so far....right?

any measurements you could share? like center of the wheel to wheel lip?

    thanks

Hey Rob, Ayrton, lol anyone I am looking at just going with the rear hotchkis leafs as opposed to a kit which will give me 1" more drop in the rear correct from stock? Then adding some shackles ie jlp 3" ers for a selective total of 2" to 4" down from stock. The above post says I will need to get some stops? Is that correct? then going with 2" bell tec coils up front which will give me around another inch in the front. This (and this is a question)should drop me down nicely and give me the flexibility in the rear to adjust to get it level?
My hope is that i wont bottom out with the new leafs in the rear? is that a decent assumption? plus it should save some work (no hangers )
While doing this i am going to do 4 bilstien shocks as well. How would the ride be(guestimation) with this setup?
(sway bars to follow once my wallet recovers)

I can tell you that on my Lightning they rode just like factory. They didn't hurt me at the drag strip either like some said they would. Hotchkis did their homework on the stuff. My only recommandation is to buy the shorter rear bumpstops and eventually a good set of shocks. That will allow good suspension travel for a smooth ride and good handeling.

My truck is currently up on jack stands so I don't have any measurements for you. Sorry

The Belltech coils are only mildly stiffer than stock, and the Hotchkis leafs are almost 100% stiffer than stock, so I would recommend running a stiffer front coil or the stock leaf with a hanger/shackle combo in order to get the desired drop.

The Bilsteins are great shocks for the Belltech coils, but will be over powered with the Hotchkis leafs.
