Smile To lower my 03 HD or not?

I am interested in lowering the rear of my 03 to match the front, are there ant cons to doing this? My truck's only 3 days old, and I am already getting bit by the custom bug ;d . Is 2" or 3" the correct drop? How much to a set of drop shackles cost? Are they hard to install?

    Another Atlanta brother.

First welcome to the site, and lowering the rear of your truck is one of the first things most owners do, but be careful hanging out on this board, as you will start to spend way to much money.

This site is a great source of information that can be carried over to the 02-03 Harley trucks, and will answer most of your initial questions. http://www.timskelton.com/lightning/index.htm

2” drop shackles are very easy to install, and they will level out your truck.

Of course you have to lower it. It's a must. Now, how much? Depends on what look you want. Lots of info on the suspension threads. Good luck and welcome. ;w

503Blackjack, Thanks, at this time I am just looking to drop the rear to match the front. I do tow a trailer with bikes, will that matter if I drop the rear to match the front?

I make are your rear lights? Cost?

Leveling out the truck will have little affect on towing a bike trailer, unless it is a 48' enclosed Halmark.;t

The clear taillights are from the 01-03 Lightning, and can be purchased at the dealer for under $250. Check out the part # list in the "How to" forum for the numbers.
