    Angry Murphy's Freakin Law!!!

OK, since the new F150 came out in 1997, I have probably done Bell Tech shackles & hangers on 200+ customer trucks.

So why is it mine has taken 6 hours just to get the freaking driver's hanger off!!! ;c

I still haven't been able to get the stupid rivet bodies out of the frame!

SO I came home... took a quick shower & had a beer

gottago buy biger implements of destruction to getthese freeakin rivets out..

I am gonna use the torch on the pasenger side if it so much as gets testy

Why me? why on MY truck.....

Oh well more report later. :drink:

Well the "usual" way we did them day in & day out my partner & I would double team an F150 2wd... each take a side. We could do a 3/4 Bell Tech in 2.5 hours easy....

Grind a "+" in th head of the rivets, air chisel the head off with a flat blade. Switch to a pencil point, drive the ivet body right through the hanger & frame.. maybe 1/2 hour on a stuborn/rust truck..

I ground my heads... chiseled them... rivets would not punch through. No room to swing a BFH (Big Freakin Hamer) . So I had to end up driling through the entire body of EACH rivet in 4 steps. Then I was able to use the air chisel to work the rivet back & forth at first then drive it through. Geez....

So after 7 hours of fighting the driver's side is done.

I will tackle the pass side early tomorow.

Like you said #356... the easy 1/2 day mod goes 2 days....

It may be to late, but let me tell you what they did on mine. Normally I don't condone using a torch anywhere near a frame. Since the rivets are such a b!tch, the shop that did mine used a torch, but the never hit the trigger.

They slowly heated the heads, and very gently hit the trigger, for just a small amount of oxegyn. This melted the rivets away, but did not harm the stock hanger, or the frame.

I watched the entire operation, and feel confident that it works without any harm to the hanger or frame. You might give it a try, instead of...

Well mine would not come out either, I air chselled the heads off and then I had to grind them down to the frame rails and the I used a blunt air chisel punch to get them out of the frame. Almost by myself it took 7 hours to do the 3/4 drop
