    hmmm

Me personnally I have not changed the brakes on the HD yet, will do that when I put on the new rotors. But occasionaly when changing the breaks on my broncos in the past I would run into one that would stick on me. Imade sure that I got the clamp centered in the middle of the piston, and that the break fluid resevoir was off.

I am sure some of the experts here can chime in and give you better help on this one.

My front brakes make a lil squeel when I drive around. They stop on brake pressure. 31k on them, what needs to be fixed? Anything fixable under warranty?

Definately not trying to hijack thread, just need help/advice.

i know you've got the brake fluid reservoir cap off, but try disconnecting the brake line from the caliper. this will make sure you relieve any pressure from the caliper. if it still will not go in with a giant C clamp then it sounds like you may need a new caliper...

Sounds like you have a locked up caliper. Go ahead and loosen the bleeder screw and depress them that way and bleed them back out. I would look into replacing anyone that you cannot depress easily with a c-clamp..Generally it is better to replace then re-build them.

If they hadn't been replaced yet I would say it is that time. You should be able to see if there is any pad left by looking thru the wheel, but that is a lot of miles for any pad.

All depends on your driving habits Double G. I got 27k on my truck now and still ahve stock pads and they are looking good and still have some good life in them. I am going to replace mine though when i put on my new dimpled, slotted rotors.

I tow a 22 foot boat now, and I have no idea as to what kind of use/abuse the truck had before i got it. any ideas on what to do in addition to quiet grease? I dont want to have to put on new pads if I dont have to.

well i got it, i was origionally using a "small" c-clamp and finally ended up using the big one and using big pliers to squeeze the handle and they finally went in. if i had removed the brake line from the caliper, wouldnt this spray brake fluid all over the place? i thought about removing them and sticking the caliper in a vice, that would have done the trick. thanks for the help, i just tested it out and all seems well so far. i will brake them in for a few hundred miles and then do a test to see exactlly how well it is improved.

and fordbyfour, i would just replace your pads to be on the safe side, if you are just installing pads i would say you would be able to do it in less than 2 hours if you have never done it before. you might as well get some dimpled/slotted/painted rotors from rotorpros while your at it, i love the look of them and the sound they make when you stop.
