    2001 performance mods

    I just brought a 2001 HD and was looking into some performance mods? I've already added the K&N intake set-up. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

    Congrats on the new purchase.

    I've mainly done appearance mods on my '01, but have performance mods planned for the spring. The following are what I have come up with reading posts on here.

    Air Intake - (Airforce One seems to be highly, though not universally, recommended)
    Chip Programmer - Diablo Sport Predator
    18" Electric Fan Kit - LFP
    Cat back or Full exhaust - Bassani or Flowmaster

    And if you can afford it, an ATI Procharger or Whipple Supercharger.

    Start reading through the forum. There is alot of information and experience here. (Note: from other people that are not me. I'm new myself)

    Welcome.

    Just my opinion but if you can afford it, drop a blower on it. Now I know what you are thinking... but it is possible (if you look on this board) to find a stock Eaton blower and setup at a VERY reasonable price (prolly $1k to 1.5k total) It is also easy to find a wrecked HD computer....OR (if ya can afford it) drop on a new Whipple for $3300.
    JLP shortblock, Stage 3 heads and cams, 2.3 Whipple w/3" upper and 4# lower.Ba2800, Accufab, Pacesetter LT's, 60#inj, twin 255's, LFP efan, PI 2600 stall, Detroit Locker Tru-Trac, 58" LFP Tbars, Bilsteins all around, D.M.R. panhard, MT DR's. 564/598 on 15# boost

    Yaaaay, more '01s here In addition to what the666indisguis mentioned above, may I also suggest the FTVB for your tranny. I already have a K&N drop-in, e-fan (LFP) & exhaust (Magnaflow). Last engine mod I will do is to get some underdrive pulleys (Troyer). Then I might do a dyno/chip.
    Adding a supercharger is always good for

    I think for now I want to go with the e-fan and pulley. Which pulley would be my best bet?

    Lower pulley will net you nothing since 01s are non supercharged. Underdrive pulleys are what you need. PM Kromdom he can tell what he put on his.

    I see there are a couple of threads on the FTVB, but figured since we're talking 01 Harley's here this would be the place to ask a question.

    I just wanted to verify that the stock '01 transmission will work with this mod and it's not just a S/C model mod. I thought I read at one point that the *some* '01's had the same tranny as the 02/03. Is this correct? Where would I look to find out?

    Thanks!!

    (There might be a new mod in this for me! :-) ... I definately have the bug.)

    check your door jamb sticker, look under TR (transmission):
    E = 4R100
    U = 4R70W
    Gregg sells an FTVB for both.

    I was affraid you were gonna say that.

    My door jam sticker isn't there. All that's left is the void/void/void residue. Grr... The pisser is I didn't realize this till weeks after I bought the vehicle.

    Any other way? :-)

    crawl under your truck, locate the tranny pan and count the number of bolts. Sorry I forgot if the 4R100 had 20 vs. 18 for the 4R70W????
