O3 ?'s... and previous Lightning owners

    OK guys / gals .
I may be parting ways with my 17k mile 01 lightning and getting a Harley. Just want a little more room.

Also for those that owned both what are thre biggest differences you noticed?

What are factory the options you could get on the Harley ? On my L the only one was the bed cover...

In search of 03 very low mileage Harley, preferably 2-tone....

factory options were moonroof (must have IMO) heated seats, sliding rear window, thats all i can think of off the top of my head..... were not too many options cause these trucks come loaded. i think you will be happy with an 03. from what the guys are doing you can swap pulleys and a few little mods and you pretty much can hang with a stock lightning. if you get one you wont be disappointed. two tones rock. hope that helps.

I went with a Harley over the Lightning because of the extra room also. I promise if you got a family they will love you with a 03'HD This truck is the best of many worlds !!!! I mean you get a really kick @ss truck and still able to cruz around with your family without squeezing them into a tight single cab truck. The only draw back to these trucks, is the women your girl will have to fight off wanting rides

My son (3) totaly digs this HD over my wife's Z71 Tahoe also

    Trade my 01 "L" for a 2003 Harley Davidson F150...thoughts?

Thoughts...............? I need the extra rear room. How hard would it be to get this thing rollin like the lightnings speed wise. The one im looking at comes supercharged and 1/4 mile time is 14.8 all stock and the lightnings all stock 1/4 time is 13.8. I mean 1 sec, how hard would it be to get up there with the lightnings in a matter of a year or so? I would be using some of the aftermarket mods I currently have on my lightning. The guy wants 25K for it and will deliver it to my door. The truck is in mint conditions with 21K miles on it and even comes with the bed rug and bed cover on and painted.

The '02 DSG is definitely the fastest of of all the H-Ds! IMO, it is the purdy-est too!

    dark shadow grey.

most of your mods from your lightning engine should bolt right on to your hd engine. shouldn't be hard at all to get your new hd moving quick.

My 03 ran a 13.6 with only adding a 9" lower pulley (6#), Predator tuner, and Factory Tech Valve Body (FTVB) in the transmission for the quick shifts. Since then, I've removed the pulley and replaced the Eaton with a Kenne Bell supercharger. If I could get some drag tires to use, I'd probably be running mid to high 12 sec range now. The stock wheels will not hook up any longer with HP I'm getting from the KB, so I'm stuck at 13.3 with spinning tires.

I was in the same boat a year and a half ago and traded the Lightning in on the HD with no regrets.

Although I do miss the Lightning in the twisties, the overall comfort, space, etc of the HD outweighs (literally) those of the Lightning.

As for times. I clicked of a 13.86 @ 99 on well worn F1's, 3# lower, and the factory tune. Good enough for me, for now.

Some folks, including myself, have done 5th seat or rear bench seat mods to their HDs and made them even more versatile. The truck can carry 5 peeps in good comfort and still have a bed full of stuff.

You may have a big leap. Remember the Lightning is a lot heavier than our trucks. Probably a different pulley, chip, exhaust will be close to stock Lightning output power but stll may not be enough to overcome weight difference. Then more expensive mods will be the answer. Good price on truck though.
