    Stew,
Shot the .50 when we went to Mt FUJI for BST..targets were life-size cut-outs of hummers & 5-tons. Then got to play with the 20 mike-mike. I do not know which one I enjoyed more!

As one of the surgeons I worked with said:
In war, the best medicine is BULLETS downrange (take out the enemy, no casualties)

I was on a 50 Cal crew serve weapons team and although the 50 Cal Machine GUn is awesome, damn that thing is heavy. One guy getting the T&E, one toting the receiver and me hauling the barrel along with spread loading the ammo amongst ourselves and carrying all our other crap did not make for a good time when moving from pos to pos. But it was all worth it when we got to set it up and send some rounds downrange!!!

If ever there was a weapon system I dreamed of using, it is the .30 cal mini-gun. Speaking of which, www.military.com has some killer footage in the "videos" section, strafing from behind the barrel.

I was a crew chief on a UH-1 we had many gunships in my co. 71st Assault Helicopter Co. Chu Lai RVN 14th Aviation Battalion Americal Division. Love the drone of a minigun.

It was 7.62 nato round with 1 tracer every 8 rounds if I remeber right.

Since we're on weapon systems, here's the latest from the squids:

Awesome weapon, no doubt. But accuracy demos at 100 meters? Seems like easy standards for a sniper weapon system.

1.5 inches per 100 yds.? Hell, my 7mm Remigton Magnum is more accuate than that. it drops just over 2 inches in 400yds. Dang I put 3 rounds in under a dime @ 300 yds. I actually had 1 round just barely cresent moon the first hole and the 3rd round was an 1/8 out. POW!

My thoughts as well. I'm no sniper, but that didn't seem to be any awesome measure of accuracy to me.

Sorry Fepony, I wish I could take you for a ride. Can't do it here at the school house. We're not allowed to carry any passengers with students flying. You probably would want to ride with these guys flying anyway. I have to let them go just far enough to scare themselves without scareing me

Also, you're right, that's a dillon mini gun from our A/C in Korea last year. It is a 7.62mm AC powered six barreled beast. At night it looks like a flame going all the way to the ground.

Yep...that's what I thought. We had duels on our gunships. One on each side. Also had 2.75 rockets and I stood out on the rocket pods with a freehand M60.

We had a CWO that used to take us water skiing down the river with our UH-1. He would set it right down in the water on the skids and let go of the stick. We would skim across the water at 100 knots.
