Need help quick. More break pad questions. PF or Raybestos

I did a search and found that the perf. friction Z-rated pads seem to have less dust than the Hawk superduty pads. I'm currently using Ruslows slotted and dimpled rotors with Hawk HPS pads. If you've seen my other post you know i'm having a squeal and a dust problem.

I have looked all over town for PF Z-rated pads and no one has them in stock. I would order them but there warehouses are out of stock as well. They do have the PF carbon metallic pad in stock.

I've been to Pepboys and advance and they carry Raybestos pads. I've never heard of them but looked them up on the net and they seem to be very good. Nice price tag too, 74.99, right up there with the PF Z-rated pads.

I need break pads ASAP. So if I can't get the Z-rated pads which ones should I get?

I just put on a set of the Raybestos Ceramics with slotted dimpled rotors and I like them. No problems so far.

PF-Z's on the front of every car I own & on the back if they are made.. Std PF's for the rear on those w/o a PF-Z application.

there is a recent thread on pads.. I will find it & post a link later.

Rob, you have said that the Z pads put out very little dust, but what about the noise? Any issues with brake squeal?

My truck, with the Hawk HPS pads, sounds like a 20 year old school bus when it comes to a stop.

Consider the Napa Ceramics. I have them on the Lightning and on the Harley with no problems. They were about 66.00 as I recall.

    Damn that must be harsh!

Did you spray Squeal-Killer on them before you did the install?

I replaced the pads on the 01 with the Autozone Raybestos Lifetime Warranty pads and WOW what a difference in stopping power. Brake dusts has been very low. It gets more road dirt than dust. I plan to put the same pads on my 02 DSG.

I've used Raybestos pads on all my vehicles for years and never had a problem.

I've had good luck with the Raybestos Ceramics too, but the Napa pads were cheaper and looked almost identical to them Del.

I want to thank everyone for their input. I decided to go with the Raybestos pads, they're being installed right now. I hope I won't have any more embarrasing moments.
