i just used a stock plug, sanded it smooth and painted it, drilled a hole through the bottom part, and put a zip tie through it to another hole nearby in the bumper. works good enough for me

even with 3M tape though, that'll hold one of those medallions on better than it needs to be. all the emblems are held on with it and dont have problems falling off the truck

Sounds like that could work well too.
When I got my truck it did not have a whole plug. Even though it's only like $15 for the Harley Gas cover, I've never trusted 3M Tape in NE. Never seems to last. Just my experience.

Come on guys! Stop it!!!....Can't we just read about cool stuff and not want to buy it?

Good one 666. I like your plan. Epoxy that thing on good. Nothing like hunting down just the perfect piece and putting it on and then find out the next day somebody stole it off there.

Since I'm up here on the mainland now I've gotta get over to the Harley Shop. At least this mod won't be too hard on the ole wallet! Might even be able to pay cash and leave the plastic to cool off a bit longer. Dang thing is so warped up now it'll barely fit back inside the wallet.

Well.....I went in to have a look around.......$15 turned into $51....then $151. Then I wished I woulda bought the ears muffs to block out the wife's b!tiching on the way home.

Still didn't find a cover for the hitch hole that I liked. The O'town store on I-drive didn't have a very good selection of covers. Lotta nice other stuff though!

OK....should have been a simple mod. Buy medallion, epoxy medallion, install medallion. Well all went well, until the heat of the day got to it. The epoxy didn't stick too well to the nut. Cured for 48 hours. Hmmmmm???

How much did you guys sand the back of the medallion to get it to stick?? BTW.... I bought the Bar and Shield in gold and chrome, with the flames.

    Post a pic 2many,

I have still yet to do this, and am kicking around some other ideas like a modified version of my avatar or sticking with my Harley Skull theme.

DId you use JB weld? That stuff dont come off once you put it on. I have heard of ther people tightening the nut down to tight on the epoxy'd bolt and popping it off. Maybe it was not the heat but the big monkey grip that you put on the bolt. Should just have to apply a little loc tite, slap on a loc washer and snug it down.
