I went with a new item that Harley Davidson offers now...

    Sissy Bar Emblem

It was cheaper and larger than the Gas Cap Medallion. It is perfectly flat and attaches to the bumper with 3M adhesive tape. They assured me it would NOT fall off. It is basically the same stuff the truck emblems are attached with...

Thats the same one Ive got, its been on for almost a year and isnt going anywhere, the OEM tape holds it great. I need to repaint the lettering though, I turned white.

uuuuhhhhggggg....why can I get this mod to stay on??? After my other one got ganked by some low life I bought another medalion and started over, using the bolt head and the washer facing down. Let it cure...and it popped off again (saved the medalion). I started over again, let it cure and this time I put it in the freezer for a bit to see how bad temp affected it. After 20-30 min in the freezer. I put minimal pressure on the bolt and "pop"....it came right off.

That is exactly why I decided to go with something flat that was self adhesive and would cover the hole.

Sorry to hear you are having issues...
Yes officer... I am aware of how fast I was going!

    Laugh Hitch hole cover! Excellent!

Man, that is an easy and nice mod? I am pretty handy with the mod thing, but never thought about that one much. I just put the exact same emblem on the hitch itself over the weekend! I was trying to see how to drill the eyes out and put some LED's in there for even more effect!! I will do the hitch hole mod this weekend for sure. Thanks for the info!!

    Wink

    To toomanytrucks,

If you cant get the epoxy to stick, its because of the slick surface of the chrome. Take a grinder, lightly grind the surface where the nut and epoxy will go to remove the chrome. THEN try the glue on trick. I have had many problems with the chrome pieces not wanting to hold glue or epoxy over the years, and this was the fix, with no problems after that. I then either clear coat (paint) or color coat the area to prevent any oxidation. IT WORKS BRO!!

    Later,

I had a problem with epoxy not sticking. I just gave it a good sanding to rough it up and it stuck pretty good the 2nd time.

3M tape....works amazing...same stuff our heavy azz fender emblems are stuck on with...will work just fine for an even smaller emblem on the flat bumper step
