    Question intercooler cleaning..gaskets/bolts

Ive read up on this and dont need a how to but I would like some input on whether replacing all the gaskets and bolts are necessary.

I have read several different posts both here and NLOC about some claiming it is a must and then others claiming it isnt necessary.

I plan on doing this in a few weeks during my break and would like to get some info as soon as possible incase I need to order parts.

    Thanks,

I have been doing my searching on all kinda of boards. f150 and AZLOC have some good info for anyone else searching.

The blower is coming with new gaskets so I dont need that and I dont plan on removing the manifold. The SC bolts are supposedly safe to reuse so I dont plan on removing them. The CAC bolts and gaskets however need to be replaced.

Therefore I have read and this is what I have come up with that I need to get:

    1. Charge air cooler gasket for the midplate to manifold
    -gasket PN# 1L3Z-9M436-AA

    2. Charge air cooler bolts
    -(4) 6A008
    -(4) N605922-S309

    3. EGR: F6TZ9D476DA

    4. bolts PN# N606500-S100 says they come in 6 per package and I need to packages?? What are these for?

Can someone who has done this please post. gonna be doing this within a week or so...so I need to get everything together.

    Thanks,
    Chris

you dont need to replace any bolts!
just take out the 8 that hold down the supercharger & pull off the supercharger.
then towards the back of the CAC (next to the firewall), there are 2 hoses that need to be removed (have towel ready to catch the antifreeze & place tubes to the side out of the way)

next, towards the back of the CAC, there are 4 bolts that hold down the innercooler.
after taking out those 4 bolts, simply lift up and towards you and the innercooler assembly will come out.
there is no need to dis-assemble the innercooler further than this as carb cleaner can be sprayed into the fins and will soak thru and out the bottom of the innercooler.
be careful not to tip the innercooler as it still may have some antifreeze in it.

you know that link from the azloc showing the how to...
well i believe the torque to yield bolts are the ones you would take out to completely dis-assemble the CAC (removing the intake manifold(#4) from the CAC assembly(#6) )..

the 4 bolts in the back that i speak of are referred to as the upper intake manifold bolts (in that diagram)

as far as the gaskets go, i believe they are all aluminum/steel or whatever.
unless you mangle one or one appears to be broken, i wouldn't worry about replacing them.
i've done this twice, and have not replaced a gasket either time.

No bolts just gaskets. When Ford Quality Care put my ported blower and clean the inner cooler they just replaced the gaskets.

Yes this is what I also saw over on that site. I was just a little worried because of all the different opinions as to what needs/doesnt need replacing.

    thanks again
