I hope this doesn't thurn into too much of a free-post forum like the infamous '600HP'. Although without Hoff, it would be easy to catch up...Eh Stew?

Rating exams suck...
I have aced every exam I have ever taken, ACT, SAT, ASVAB etc...
but I have never scored higer than 56 on a Rating Exam....
go figure... but I still made E6 under 10...
Matt
try 4 years in recruiting to put you behind the power curve! Took me forever to make e-5 back in the day. I was more concerned with Jack Daniels and women back then than getting promoted. Made E-6 after getting out of recruiting, but Have tested for E-7 2 times with no luck. Just tested last week again and we shall see. Studied a lot, and I kicked the PFE in the butt, BUT the specialty knowledge test killed me. First time I have tested in my career field in 10 years and I have only done my job for 3 out of those 10 I am a deployment manager now so not doin my job, but testing in it. fingers are crossed, we shall see in June. need 65's if the cutoff stays the same.
and I thought you were a storeman lmfao or is that just a posh name for it ?
i have been studying the skt stuff like a madman. i need 67s to make e-6 if the cutoff is the same. i have been in for six+ years. my goal is to make tech before my ten year mark. i missed it by 30 last year, but i didn't study at all.
I'm going up on the W-3 board in May. I'm glad the Army doasn't have freakin' tests for promotions.

No test but the CSM's and 1Sg's that sit on the E-5 & E-6 Promotion Boards can be real A-holes sometimes.
I had to do that a few times what you said never did sway me it's all about the points and who has the best spit shined boots.Originally posted by mrparker97

when I was going to the e-5 board in Korea, it was based on if you worked at the Bde HQ's you had it easy, if you didn't well you didn't walk out a happy person. the only thing that helped me when I went to the e-6 board was that we was in the predeployment phase of OIF 1, but even still that board was no walk in the park. thank god the e-7 board is DA select and they go off your NCOERS and other records. The only bad thing about those is that you have dirtbags that have sham jobs doing nothing that are lucky enough to have civilian raters that make them look like superstars on paper. I'm sure we all had aour fair share of run ins with stupid E-7's, 8's or 9's. That's just the beginning, don't get me started on these idiots emphasizing garrison crap over here in a combat zone.
Hmmmm
Take it easy, Mr. Parker. Quite a few SNCOs here.....and we did not become one without paying our dues! Yes, your comments above are not directed at us here @ NHTOC but..............
Its OK to vent, I know that he was not directing that statement at me! I have known many others who were, but the good out wieghed the bad.
for the most part i have had some great senior nco's, but the one i had in iraq was the worst, he said "we weren't in a combat zone" among other stupid things. then he shredded everyones medal packages when they left and put himself in for a bronze star. the guy was a dunce.......
For every bad SNCO (or even officer for that matter), there's always 1 worse and 100's more that are better.
Thank god retirement is right around the corner!!!!
God Bless ALL of the U.S. FREEDOM FIGHTERS!!!!
