For those of ya'll that have never worn the eagle, globe and anchor, there is no way to explain how proud I am that I have had two kids wear them (one only while going through OCS at Quantico. They offered her no scholarship so she did not take the commission and go in) and a dau in the Navy....... Also, I would like to thank ya'll taxpayers for putting the squid through school at Cornell. She is now paying us back with a long commitment to the Navy. USMC (enlisted) and USMCR (commissioned) 1968 to 1971

We picked my son up at P.I. just before xmas and I was sitting and a family walked by. A new Marine and his parents followed by two teen-aged girls. I overheard one of the girls who had leaned to the other and said; "I don't care!!!" He STILL looks like he has a broom up his ***!" My Marine just called from New River and said he has been assigned gate duty. It is a 6 month assignment which means no leave and if he does it for 6 months it is a secondary MOS but he will probably get off it in September because his unit is redeploying in Feb. They just got back (not my son). He is an admin clerk (01) because he flunked his first drug test (pot) before entering. He had done well enough on the aptitude test he had been lined up for avionics in Pensacola and I was just imagining the oysters and BBQ again like when we visited the Navy pilot dau. Oh well, the Marines turned a pothead into a jarhead. I think he has finally learned.

Yup! They kicked my 21 year-old *** when it truly needed it and it HAS remained a jolt that made me grow up quickly. I wish my youngest would go to OCS. She is in the 11th grade and getting a lot of college athletic dept letters because they want her to row for them. She got one from Annapolis, too. She says she might do the summer OCS program just to get into better shape (she is a rock already) like her 2nd sister did at OCS. She remembers the sister with a 6 pack but the youngest has that already. Could get interesting.
