I just waxed my truck with the Meguiars nxt wax after I used their #9 swirl remover, it looks great! I used the DA polisher for all of it, glad I bought one, sure sppeds things up. I got a Porter Cable polisher on ebay for $110.00, I searched around and ebay is the place to get one. As for buying the Meguiars products I bought them straight from Meguairs, cheepest I could find plus the tech help was terrific.

THE FINAL DETAIL

Cool man...
Glad you've seen that Meg's isn't all bad...
Final Inspection is good stuff. I always have a gallon on hand and carry a bottle with me everywhere in my mobile 'kit'.
I was testing the M21 today myself... doing some side-by-sides with NXT topped with #16. #82 isn't too shabby but, I prefer #80 as it dusts a tad less than #82 and has a slightly more agressive cut. Also, it's a bit more 'oily' than #82 which I actually like...

For those of you looking for the Porter Cable Polisher from a different source other than Meg's...check to see if it has the velcro backing plate. This is needed to attach the pads to. When I was in the market, Lowe's had the Porter Cable for less but it didn't come with the backing plate. You can order the backing plate separate from Meg's though and still come out cheaper than buying it from them.
They were running a really good deal last year so I just bought mine from Meguiar's. Here's a direct link to there site for the velcro backing plate...nevermind the pic...apparenty it's linked to buffing pads.

Hey fuzz, too bad we don't live closer to each other....I can get rid of those swirls for you.

THE FINAL DETAIL

Auto Detailing Solutions has some EXCELLENT package deals with everything you need to get started.
Even better, the Meguiar's G-100 Polisher comes with a LIFETIME warranty. That's hard to beat... The 7336 or 7424 comes with a 1 year.
So, figure it this way...
Polisher: $120
Backing Plate:$20
Polishing Pad: $10
So, for $150, you're in the game with everything. I, personally, would go with kit #2 though... that's EVERYTHING you need (ask them if they'll substitute the cutting pad for a polishing pad -- The PC just isn't strong enough to utilize a cutting pad -- that's for a rotary buffer only).
Now, I'd recommend a couple of extra pads but (polishing and finishing) but, it's a great deal.
I know the owner of that company (however, have no affiliation with them) as I went through a 3-day course with him in Irvine at Meg's headquarters about a year ago.

Josh--let me know if you guys are having a detailing day up there. I just might make the trip to get some tips (and do some cleaning). I've never used a clay bar, Zaino products, or a polisher and would love to get some inside info.

gonna check out my fund situation later today, and see if i can squeeze the buffer in there. really wanna get the truck all done up for FFW on the 21st....so i got 2 weekends and thats it!
i was gonna go with the 2nd kit at that link, but i dont need the NXT stuff, so i'm gonna get the 1st kit, and add in some extra foam and finishing pads with a few MF bonnets and maybe some hyper dressing, and i should spend enough to get the free duffel bag
*edit*Badazz....if you want...i know J-HO was trying to get a spring meet together of some sort soemtime soon. we could possibly do a mod party meet, and i can give you a run through on the whole zaino process, show ya how to claybar, etc., and you can test out a little zaino on your truck to see how you like it, or we can just setup some friday to meet up. detail your truck up...then head out to atco for some racing

I had a lot of trouble deciphering which products were which and why there was so much apparent overlap.
Some products are for different paint stages. Others are for "body shop safe." This is the case with the Final Inspection. It's basically the same as the Quick Detailer but is "body shop safe."
I use the Quick Detailer for clay and Final Inspection or Adam's as the detail spray. You shouldn't have any problems with any combination of products you use.
That hands-on clinic is awesome. I've been on 3 different occassions now, but I'm lucky enough to live in the same city as the headquarters.
I've got a great picture of the hood of my wife's car that I should upload for you. It's a black Mazda 6 parked in my garage. I'll dig it up tonight so you can see what NXT looks like on black.

Man this is awesome..You guys are going to be sooo impressed with a buffed finish..Trust me...Josh,it's cool as he!! you were open to give Meg's a try..I know how much of a Zanoid you are(were) ha ha..#83 Is a great product as well ..Kinda like the workhorse megs products for general paint fixing/cleaning..I tried the #21 and was blown away..I though NXT was the sh!t but #21 is going to give your Zaino a run for it's money..There are a TON of different products..But Meg's has multiple lines of products than can be used with each other..Pro line isn't as available like the Medallion/NXT line..Those are mostly sold in corner parts stores like PepBoys and Walmart....Pro line is just that(PRO)..Real parts stores like Napa,Carquest might carry it as well as autopaint stores..Or online...I have some killer connections up here in CT. for Megs..Maybe I can get it shipped to ya in N.J. hehh hehh...Good luck man
