    Anti Theft Ideas

Here is a great anti theft idea for you .

Convert your cigarette lighter into an ignition kill .
Remove the power plug and solder new wires to the lighter assembly , or you can cut your factory harness . I would not cut my harness , I would solder on new wires . The outer ring is the ground , and the center which was 12volts will now be a wire that runs to a relay that controls the ignition and or emergency fuel pump shutoff ( I cant remember if it is in the pass side kick or by the heater vents .

Anyway , by pressing the lighter in sends a ground which throws the relay to open killing that circuit . There is a way to do this from the opposite , where the light has to be pushed in to start the truck , meaning it will not start being in the normal position or if removed . Even if they have a key , the truck will not start .
Very inexpensive to do , A relay is a couple of bucks .
Spend the extra dollar and buy the Bosch relay .

If you have an idea post it

On my old GM (read easy to steal) pickup I used to leave a fuse puller on the ECU fuse in the dash but it was easy to get to, most thieves wont look that far unless they have some time on their hands.

oh yeah... easy... use the idea from 00 for a vehicle kill, stereo valet switch... convert the lighter "knob" as the knob for the remote sub woofer volume control.

the kill switch idea could be expanded to when you press it ot kill the ignition it could flipa second relay & start a flashing LED for a "fake alarm" 2-birds one lighter, 2 relays.. LOL

fake alarm with iginition switch: wire a relay directly to the ignition switch, when the Key is on, the LED is off, Turn the iginition off, the LED flashes... no extra work required. Fake alarm. Also a way to add addtional LEDs to an existing alarm, except you use the alarm's armed out to trip the relay.

Good old fashioned "equipped with security device" stickers on the lower windows...

Also, same idea as the cigarette lighter... use a floor mounted dimmer switch... click... no start, click, start.... also this was the original "anti-car jacking " formula... a 1-5 minute timer & a relay... click the switch.... 1-5 minutes later after they drive off, safely away from you but not hard to find on foot, the vehicle dies.

my alarm has the ant jacking feature capability but i did not have the installers turn it on bc they said it sometimes becomes a huge pain in the arse for you (the owner) I dont know how but thats what they told me. Anyway I decided not to do it. Should I have turned it on?

searching the Rob W alarm and audio post for dummies is my next move.

Chris the anti-car jack in Viper/Clifford is weird.. you have a rocker switch in plain view... you have to tap in a code every time you start the vehicle.. 4 digits & they cannot be all 1's.. so you hit the rocker at least 7 times (1222) or more depending on the code... & you have 15 seconds to do it... not long..

Other brands have other tricks... Car jacking is funny, everyone thinks its a modern phenomenon.. one of the very first cars sold to the general public was stolen at knife point in the late 1800's... we just didn't have TV & the media to hype it up.. that's all...

In my old stereo comp truck - S-10 with a walk-thru bed and 12 kicker 15"s
I took the cig lighter out of the dash and installed a keyed on off switch inside the hole, took the lighter itself apart so I just had the "handle" and stuck a magnet on the end and stuck it back in the hole over the key lock. Magnet held it in place stuck to the lock.
Looked exactly like normal, except you took the lighter out and there was a keyhole there instead.
I used it to disable the stereo for trips to the tire shop or whatever.
Could be used as an additional starter kill just as easily.

there are 101 ways to do this . On my other truck you had to flash your high beams while turning the key in order to start it .

As for security I am a firm believer in "Glock we trust"

cig lighter is a common starter disable, but theives have started figuring out to turn every thing on lights wipers cruise buttons cig plug. we commonly use pressure switches that have to be depressed to start the vehicle. absolutely no switches and totally hidden!
