2000 F150 Supercab -
a few mods, but not enough.
I thought it was a done deal too.
Mines off for now anyway.
I drilled those plastic rivits out too George, what a PITA that was!
I wonder it's not passing has anything to do with those red light camaras. The ones used to take your picture everytime you run a red light We got these at every major intersection here in Midland ( 98,000 pop) but they haven't installed everything to do it with. They say/claim they're used for timing reasons right now, but could be changed to take lic plate pics. It's kind of crazy how my town gets all these new high tech toys being as small as we are. I think the total surrounding area is 250,000 people, thats in a 100 mile radius.
so this never passed huh?
that sucks since I cut my tag mount off literally about 3 minutes after it came home from the dealer
Yea. I'm like 90% sure it didnt pass. But i'm probably going to take mine off soon and mount it on the passenger side visor and just flip it down for the cops.
My buddies get away with it in their Mustangs and Cobras. So i should be able too.
good idea Fuz!
What front plate????
Is that what that bracket was for that I cut off the day I got the trucks..
Oh ok...

Nah, it failed. The cops around here usualy just use that no front plate as a reason to pull somoene over they already wanted to check out. Now since you'll be in Abliene there is no telling what they will do. I know the DPS is a PITA around there but don't know about the local PD. You could just register the truck in Florida to someone you trust like a parent etc.Originally posted by Venom

I cut mine off the day I got it and have never had any problems at all. Even Jeff, who is a police officer, took his off.
I think, like I said before, its about WHO is driving, HOW they are driving & WHEN
Jeff, Russ & I were talking about police & getting pulled & Jeff said its a matter of time fo day & if there is a reason for the vehicle/person to stand out or be worth checking out.
My front place holder is coming off as soon as I transfer the plates down..
Rob W
well I guess I'll take my chances on the front plate
just hoping taylor co doesn't do emissions tests!
I'm pretty sure you're ok on the emissions thing. They are still pretty rural out that way, so emissions isn't really a problem. I think the inspections there are $12.50 and ours are $35 because of the emissions crap.

Yeah, I wouldn't really sweat it. It is against the law and there is that possibility that you could encounter an officer who takes issue with it, but I've never met one who cared.
In my mind, it's a good law and I'd hate to see it go away. Having two plates doubles the chances of witnesses to crimes getting down a LP number which can be the difference between identifying a suspect or the case going cold.
That said, most crooks aren't out there driving HD trucks with nice JJent or Venom grills they don't want obscured. Same goes for Vettes, etc. Point is, that really the only people who don't put them on is becaue they genuinely have a nice ride and they don't want them on for aesthetic reasons. Most cops recognize this.
In my city, it'll definitely get you stopped at 2AM on your way home from Whataburger, but if that happens, you need only be concerend about being drunk not worrying about getting a ticket.
...and hey, don't sell me out so quick! As I like to say, that's my one allowable item of hypocrisy!
