A short box Superduty has a 29 gal tank, and a long box has a 38 gal tank. FYI

Yeah, maybe he's hand calculating based on a 29 gal tank instead of a 38. That would make sense.

I think when he fills up he notices more than 29 gallons going in...he did get accepted to SOME college.

I'm thinking of getting one of these SD 250s. I was wondering about the mileage. It seems pretty close, maybe even better, than my 2002 HD. I've heard of these trucks getting better than 20 on the highway with programmers, but I guess that was fiction?

    Holy thread resurrection!

I've never heard of a 6.0L Powerstroke getting over 20 on the highway unless he was running propane, small tires, and travelling at 60 mph.

Bone stock I was averaging 15-16 mpg with a 3.73 axle ratio. Programmer added 1-2 mpg on the highway if I stayed out of it, but that's really hard when you've just added almost 200 hp to the wheels.

Damn, does edge make a programmer like that for the gasoline engine, I'm getting 11.5-13.8 on the diablosport 91 octane tune and not getting in it(well maybe a little bit). The only way I could see these trucks (f-150, f-250, ect.) getting 20+mpg was if you put it in neutral and coasted down a 200 mile long hill. Otherwise I need to get a diesel and buy that programmer.

lol diesel engines are a whole different monster than gasoline. its crazy what just a programmer can do with those things.

So is there a real possibiliy that the edge programmer can take it from 15-17mpg to 23-24 mpg? That seems just too good to be true. Or was this a case of miscalculation @ the gas pump?

not possible with a Ford! I get about 18.5 on the highway driving just above the posted speed. I have almost 95K on her and have never had better than19. I have Bullydog programmer and exhaust. Remember diesel is about
.40-.50 more expensive than gas. The little bit of milage if any no longer adds up. Not to mention, now you have to put in additive for the low sulfur...

I just wanted to make sure that the diesel wasn't getting 10mpg more than me on the highway, any tips on how I can get above 13.8mpg; and I'm only going 65-70 on the highway.
