    Gas Mileage

All you guys with diesel HDs, how many miles per gallon do you get...I'm thinking of trading my 02 for a 05.

02 HD stock with 1/3 ground force lowering kit, autopage alarm w/remote start, K-40 dual undetectable radar detector, tinted windows, AVH-P6500DVD, JL stealth box, Cervini ram air hood, black trim front lights, smoked and bezzeled back lights, L third light, grill insert, and best of all "Flameless"

    What HARLEY6LF250SDU said........

I'm averaging about 15.5 mpg if I take out the times I've towed stuff.

Sorry, but I have to wave the flag on this: Especially with 20" wheels.

Are you hand calculating your mpg or are you relying on what the truck is telling you? The truck's mpg meter is usually off--somewhere between .1 and 4 (yes, 4, not .4) mpg.

Using the meter, which is pretty close by calculation most of the time, shows a best of around 18.2 and towing 8000# for about a 25mile hike is about 10.5 on the highway at 70mph. I knew it was bad but man that boat really sucks the fuel. I average around town at about 15.4 in Dallas traffic. No Mods!

and the 20" rims on the 05's should be the same overall diameter, with a little lower profile tire, if i remember correctly

sure you are filling the truck all the way up, reset the trip meter, drive it til whenever....refill up, see how many gallons it takes, then divide with the number your trip meter is showing, and that will be your mpg.

dont mean to dumb it down, but i've seen people calculate it wrong quite a few times before.

or hand calculated you say? did you try a calculator instead? lol j/k

well it should be pretty easy to calc. With a 20 gallon tank, that truck should do the 500 mile round trip in one tank...

are you really seeing that kind of mileage? I dont know any v8 getting mid 20s

    He either has a V10 or a diesel. Not a V8.
