    Signature Courtesy

I know I may be stepping out of bounds here and I'm sure the moderators will let me know, but I wanted to make a suggestion regarding posting your signature in a thread.

Typically, try to only post your signature once per thread as it will make reading it easier for everyone and it will help out those with slow connections.

Many of us tried to do this on the other sites and it works well.

Granted, we all want to show off our trucks, and I want to see those pics as well but I think once per thread is generally enough unless there is something specific in your sig you are communicating.

Also, on the other site we had 1 member who had a sig that was like 2 pages long. Some of you know who I'm talking about. I believe they listed everything they ever owned from their first car on. Though this is interesting stuff, remember that the people that are reading a thread are trying to get information and will quickly get frustrated seeing a 2 page sig every other post. So just something to keep in mind when creating your sig.

IMO, all sigs I've seen so far look great. Some just need to add a pic and they will be all set.

Enough from me now, I'm just trying to do my part to make this the best site on the net.

Okay moderators, you can take me out in the hall and punish me now, LoL!!

Another recomendation is to make a small thumbnail of your truck,
and have it linked to a larger picture. That way you see it, and if you want to see more, just click on the picture for a larger sized one.

    SAMPLE:

    1985 Turbocharged GSL-SE "Cosmo" 13B-RE
    2002 Supercharged Harley Davidson Supercrew
2001 Mistsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT Convertible
    1998 Sea-Doo GTX-Limited

EDIT: Although I still can't get pics to Post on here!!! ARG!.

Maybe one of the Moderators can have that option changed in the post reply area section. I know that in the past I had to check the sig box on each reply so that my sig would show up. Now on this site once the box is checked it stays checked until you uncheck it.

    BillP,
I agree with you totally. This was mentioned in another thread, but it's probably best to have it as a seperate subject. I too find it rather distracting to look at really long sigs, and huge sig pics. It will help if we get a gallery, so we can thumbnail pics with links to our gallery.

It is nice to know when you are reading a post what mods the person has, so you have an idea about how their truck should perform. One sig per thread is a reasonable request. We just have to remember to un-check the box every time we respond.

Since our site will be seeing lots of new guys come along, we need to make sure we are VERY polite if we have to mention this policy...

I asked HD356 if there was a way to make the sig pic unchecked by default when you post.

I'll let you know if there are any tips for this.

yup, one sig per thread is a good idea, especially with pics. i don't think its that big of a deal if its only a few words and a link if its posted everytime, but with a pic then probably its best.

anyway, here's how you can turn off peoples sigs if its slowing you down on dailup
    -"usercp"
    -"edit options"
-scroll 1/2 way down and under "thread view options" click "no" for "Show user's signatures in their posts?"

not sure how to make it so your sig isn't on by default, but i'll try and figure that one out.

btw, i moved the thread to "board rules and notices" so new members will see this thread when the read the rules to the site

Good idea Josh. I think everyone is getting the idea, and sizing their sig pics down. That will help a lot, and the one sig per post, or at least one per page, is a good rule.
I like to see everyone's pic, but now every time...
