"Windage is the flow of air within the crankcase. Each time a piston comes down in the piston bore the air under it is pushed into the crank area and each time the piston goes up the air is pulled in behind it. In a eight cylinder engine all eight pistons go up and down each revolution. At the same time the rotating assembly is spinning and churning the air. Oil coming off of the crank is also put into the mix. So as the RPM increases so does windage.
A windage tray keeps the windage around the crank from the oil in the sump area. It allows oil coming off the crank to easily enter the sump without the windage affecting the oil already in the sump. Windage trays keep the oil in the sump from getting into the rotating assembly when the action of the vehicle is in motion increasing 15 to 18 Hp at 6000 RPM. "

"We've found our windage trays to be worth power, especially on Modular engines," says Schroeder of Canton. "The Mod engines have a deep skirt around the crank, but if you look at a stock Mod motor pan you'll notice it is very shallow. We worked with Ford on the 5.4 Cobra R and picked up about 33 horsepower. And we've seen a 17-horsepower increase on 4.6 Cobra engines," Schroeder explained."
So I figure WTF? for $70 and an easy install, why not?

My chemo ends at the end of Sept. and i'm hoping I feel well enough to make the drive. Where is everyone staying? I'll prolly need a room the night before as well.

OK, after the Uber-crappy experience at Hooters last time (Mike not getting food till 30 min after the rest of us, food that was just bad, cop convention in the lot, etc etc)
Do you guys wanna try it again or should we come up with something new?
I only ordered a burger and fries....
got somewhere better in mind?? Not that I have any objections to Hooters again either...
I'll see what I can come up with, we always have Hooters as a backup.

so you could go play from 10-3, but thats when most of the mod work is gonna be happening.
Too bad the meet isnt this weekend. ...
