    Speed Bleeders a How Too

    Speed Bleeder's, Quality verses cost...

For the most part they are about the same, a little better grade of metal or a little better spring.
For most of us daily drivers who never change the fluid or those of us like myself that change it once a year, get the affordable one's,,, around $9 a set x 2 and you've got $20 and you don't need your buddy to help (more beer for yourself) you out. When you do the install you will need the following.

Speed Bleeders, a catch cup or 20" length of large 3/16 I.D. aquarium hose, a empty 2 Qt. bottle to catch the fluid so you don't have to empty it, 1 Qt. DOT 4 brake fluid of your choice, 3/8 box end wrench.
A turkey baster for sucking out the fluid in the reservoir and maybe some Teflon tape the yellow type it holds up to chemicals better and a handful of old rags.

Remove all but a quarter of a inch of fluid from the brake reservoir, there is a ceramic disk of sorts that will not allow you to remove all the fluid.

NEVER touch your paint with BRAKE FLUID on your hands it WILL REMOVE PAINT!

Go to the back passenger side and remove your stock bleeder screw and install the Speed Bleeder. Only install one screw at a time, finish up one wheel move on to the next.

Screw it in until the shoulder of the thread just disappears (this will leave you a couple of turns out from seating it) reason being this will allow the sealant that is on the threads from the manufacture to remain intact, if you seat them and then back it out you may leak air (that is what the Teflon tape may be used for) but not necessarily.

Attach the bleeder catch cup or the aquarium hose and drop the other end of it in the 2 Qt. bottle.
    Your ready to start bleeding.
Seat yourself down and slowly push the brake pedal up and down. Stopping about mid-way as not to bottom out the pedal, bottoming out the pedal may or may not cause some damage,,, this depends on who you ask or how hard it bottoms out.

The first push will be fairly easy and then they will firm up after that. As you go thru this process you will most definitely want to keep a eye on the master cylinder because you DO NOT want it to run dry.
Let it work it self down to approximately a 1/4 above the bottom level of the reservoir, at this time you want to slowly pour in a little bit of the new fluid maybe another 1/4 inch or so, or you can fill it very slowly and hope the old stuff floats to the top and you can draw it off with the baster.
I chose the little at a time method.
After about 2 cups of the old stuff coming out you can pretty much refill the reservoir with the new fluid, checking every once in a while.
NEVER let the reservoir run dry.

Slowly go thru this process on the first bleeder, back and forth until the fluid runs clear with the new product you bought. Always remember to to check the fluid level.
It is handy to have a friend around for this to keep you from jumping in and out of your vehicle.

Plus you can watch to make sure you don't have any air bubbles traveling back up thru the fluid that is coming out, if you do you will need to remove that screw and wrap the thread's with the Teflon tape (being careful as not to wrap any tape across the bottom hole of the screw) one or two wraps should do it.

Once the rear passenger side flows clear repeat this process on each of the remaining bleeder screws.

Sequence is right rear , left rear, right front and finally drivers side front or left front what have you.Total time should be around 40 minutes or 6 beer's and three good burps. Maybe a fart or two too run off the Mrs.

Ahh yes clean up, A bottle of Simple Green full strength and a garden hose will suffice. Spray the snot out of the rims, calipers and surrounding area (Don't forget around the reservoir too) and let it sit for a 1/2 beer and hose her down. Job well done.
