Anybody ever been stationed in Italy?

By chance anybody been stationed in Italy? If everything goes well with my wife's branch manager (my wife is in the Army also), I'll be on orders for Italy with a July 2006 report date. Only bad thing I can think of right now is that I have to go to Airborne School, but not too much worried about that.

yes....Airborne...that kind of narrows down where you are going to be stationed.

Yeah, I figured Vicenza is where I'll be. But how is it being stationed there?

I was TDY to Aviano (right outside Venice) and it's beautiful up there...none of the folks I worked with that permanent had anything bad to say about it.

I wasn't going to say the name....but it was nice duty when I was there....by that I mean I was always on the road. It is very small especially if you are coming from an major Inf Post. Your 2 mile run for your AFPT will just about cause you to run all the streets on post just to do the 2 miles. The ecconomy can be kind of pricey, and there are historic places real close that most people never get to see. The food is great.

My Branch Manager hates me. He gave the Italy assignment to someone else and is telling me I'm stuck on Fort Lewis until December.
