    My Slammed HD

Here is my 2003 HD. Just got it back from the shop. Street beat Customs in PHX Arizona.

DJM Upper and lower control arms on the front with Toxic Brand lowered shocks. Rear is Belltech 2 inch shackels and 3 inch hangers. Had a C notch put in. I have 4 inches of travel from axel to C notch.

Note.. DJM told me that the truck has 2 inch springs on it from the factory and that the springs they sell which are 2 inches are the same. They installed the springs and Control arms with the shocks. The truck was undrivable. IF you turned at all it would munch the fender flares. I could have cut the inside of the flares to cure this. Instead they put the stock HD Front springs back on. Truck came up about 1 inch or 1.5 inches. No matter who tells you those springs are the same they are wrong. People on this form told me and DJM did. However.. My stock HD Springs where taller then the 2 inch DJM springs.

The truck rides better then stock in everyway. Smoother. More control. Its a real pleasure to ride in. 80mph on the highway is a dream. The truck aligned out with some Cam bolts. I have Zero regret. I do get some rubbing if I am full lock and gas the truck a bit. Normal driving and in and out of parking spaces has no rubbing.

I am going to order a set of 22 inch HD Replicas with tires. Then I am going to install the DJM springs again. Cut the inside of the Fender flares out. At that time I am going to have the rear leafs Dearched 2 inches. Dunbar spring does this in town.

Total Measured lowering.. 4 inches front. 5 inches rear over my stock HD. 6 inches in front and 7 inches or so lower then a standard Super crew F150. My goal is 2 inches in the rear more and 1-1.5 inches lower front. I have the travel in the rear with the Cnotch. The C-notch concept scared me... But now that I saw it done and the way the truck rides... I would go this way. As an alternate you could use the Flip kit. I chose this way as it was cheaper and does not mess with the Pinion angle to much.

    I have attached the pictures..

Looks great. I'm glad you like it. If you can, take another picture where the truck is on flat ground and take a side shot so we can see the stance a little better.

interested in seeing level ground shots as well.

absolutely love the look of a slammed HD truck!

and oh yeah, the HD's are lowered 1" from the factory,so DJM 2" springs are definately not the same. we get our 1" drop from the front coils and rear leafs.

also ditch those toxic shocks, crappy units....bilsteins will greatly improve the ride and handling of that sucker!

I will take some better pics of it. On level ground the front is lower. The Curb is holding weight in the rear and making the front higher. If I back up and crank the wheel and touch the gas to much it will rub the inner fender. If I hit a dip or parking lot entrance and to high a speed the tires will rub in the front. On inspection its just the Inner edge of the Fender flare. I will remove both flares and cut them back an inch or so. THat will give me ample clearance. Dont go lower then this however.. At least with stock rims and tires..

I have decided that the rear is to high. I think I am going to sell the 2 inch shackles, and 3 inch hangers and install the flip kit. THis will put me 2 inches lower then I am now. Then I will Decide on the front springs. I dont think I can run the DJM's even with the slimmer 22's.

The Ride on this truck is nicer then stock. THats the main point. People riding in it are shocked at how smooth it is. I think the Toxic shocks are perfect for this level. They are certainly softer then the stock (new condition) shocks.

There are two kinds of people out there.. One that wants to make a 5600lb truck handle.. and one that wants it to be slammed with the best ride you can get. I am the latter person and I got that. I guess I miss the point of trying to make a heavy slow truck handle... Maybe because I have a 3000lb 600+hp car as well and a GSXR. To me the truck is for transportation. I have a smooth ride and a low stance.. I am happy. Now if I could just figure out why my truck gets a BEST of 12.5 MPG on a trip...

I have been getting PM's about my angel eye Headlamps and LED tail lights. I got them at http://www.sporttruckdirect.com/ in PHX. They had both pair instock. Before this I had stock headlamps and Lightning Copy Rear tails. Both sets are for sale if anyone wants em. If you want what you see on the truck now you can call Sport truck direct... I also have a short Billet Antenna from the same place.

guess there's 2 opinions on that one....IMO the stock ride SUCKS with being all bouncy and soft feeling. hitting bumps on the highway and getting that squirely feeling SUCKS! lol stock shocks are way too soft for such a heavy truck, and with even softer ones it will just bottom out alot more often and float around on the highway at high speeds

guess i consider my setup the best of both worlds, still rides nice and smooth, smoother than stock since its not swaying all over the place, and handles in the corners to boot, and lowered quite a bit as well

looks very nice... the toxic shocks you will want to keep an eye on... you will use the "lifetime warranty" they will wear quickly at that drop...

Glad to hear you like the ride & its working for you...Just keep a close eye on the toxics... watch for dirt/oil build up around the tops & obivous leakage... we used to install that exact set up all the time... the toxics seemed to last 6-8 months depending on how much you drive...

Thanks guys. I love it. I just drove 350 miles to Vegas. 80 mph most of the way. Its as smooth as a Caddy. Handles WAY better as well. Rock solid in the corners. No bottoming out. The Left front wheel rubs the plastic Fender when backing up or turning tight. Friends cant believe how well this rides. I dont think it can go much lower without going to a thinner Tire. Probably keep it at this level with the new rims. I would like it lower...

Yeah. I dont like your setup however Thats why people are different. What you like I Fricken hate. Lol. My truck does not sway, it does not Float. It tracks straight. Turns in tight and flat and rides smooth as can be. If you hate all of those things DONT get this setup!

sorry i gotta beg to differ...softer shocks, no rear sway bar, stock springs and leafs...it may handle better than stock just because of lower center of gravity, but slap a sway bar on there, some bilsteins, and THEN it will not sway, will not float, and track even straighter

not trying to be a pr!ck, but just offering some suggestions for a better handling truck without sacrificing any ride quality. a simple search for "bilsteins" or similar will show you many share the exact same opinion

i know 2002Greyhd150 has been through 4 or 5 suspension setups, and i've been through pretty close to that as well, so just some friendly advice coming from hands on experience with the suspensions

Yeah. Ridden in the Bilstien truck. Also the Hotchkis. Did not like either. Both sit WAY WAY WAY to high for me. Not my cup of tea Would rather have a smooth riding and handling truck Like I have that is SLAMMED, rather then the ride you have and 4x4 stance. A 5600lb truck is never going to handle. I have other vehicles for that. No matter what you do.. Its a heavy truck and its not meant to be used for corners.. Lol. Glad you like what you have. I dont Just like you dont like what I have If you want your truck low. Then do it. If not stay where your at.. I love what I have!
