That type of enforcement is insane and unconstitutional. Does California not believe in the 4th amendment? I usally keep my mouth shut on issues like this because that is not why I come to this board, but give me a break!

I understand wanting to END street racing, and make the roads a little safer, but to say you can't mod your car/truck?? Thats just plain crazy.

So i guess the middle aged guy with a hot rod, just driving around, is put in the same class as these ricers?

Looks like profiling to me. And as Ron White says "Profilin' is wrong."

Seriously they would rather stop a car that has been modified because they might be linked to street racing than pulling over some piece of crap car or truck spewing smoke all over the place and becoming a road hazard. I do not street race but all of my cars and my truck has been modified in some way. Also I don't know the CA laws, but can they pull you over just for that purpose or must another offense been committed?

Well I wonder if they would pull over someone driving a Z06, a GT-40, A Viper an SRT-10, or GTO? Those vehicles come modded from the factory and also could be used for street racing. Just because a vehicle fits a particular profile doesn't mean they are street racers. I think they are looking at specific vehicles as well as looking at the age of the people driving these vehicles and making a determination that they are street racers.

I live 1/4 mile from a CHIPS station....pass by every morning and every afternoon when the boys are heading out onto and coming back from being on the road...they all know my truck and get a thumbs up or a quick wave from them....or we get caught up at a light and shoot the Sh!t for that brief momment in time. Get lots of compliments from them. Hope after the next round of mods go on that it does not spoil the rappor!

Never a prob from them.....I dont go around showing my *** either...well at least not where they can see or hear me...

yeah the video sucks. I've followed a lot of threads on the mustang boards where quite a few people were pulled over and harassed.

Also there was one guy who owned a Z06 and the Sacramento CHP were going to tow his vehicle and impound it. Apparently, he knew friends who knew the law and were in possession of the CA Vehicle code who informed the officers that they had no real basis to tow the vehicle. He was let go.

    The news article is this:
    http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/05/576.asp

They are using $5 mil in Federal money for this crap!
5 million in federal dollars could be used for much bigger things besides chasing down people with modified cars. Go catch killers, rapists, and thugs, not people who have a hobby and who obey the law. Granted I break the law in my truck, hell I shatter it, and I am not one to play the holier than thou game. But please Cali, find something better to do than waste 5 million on chasing down racers...spend the 5 million on a track so people can do it legally, oh wait heres a !@#$% brainstorm we have soldiers getting killed everyday, put that 5 mil towards giving our soldiers better armor...

Makes me upset enough to want to rip off all my mods and spend time on my '68 so I can tell them to kiss my !@#$% @zz...
