    Chopping frt coils

Is there a general rule for cutting coils?
    example: 1/2 coil=1.5 in
    1 coil=3in
I could have bought some 3in BellTech's from someone on this board, but I think 3in may be a bit much for my ATV hauler(97 f-150 ex-cab).Already have 2in shackles, but want to get the front figured out first. Its got 94k on it,so they wont settle anymore!!!!!lol
    Thanks guys.

    IIRC

    1/2 coil = 1 inch
    1 full coil = 2 inch

the general rule of thumb is every 1/2 coil = 1"
and make sure you dont heat the coils up when you are cutting them. it will mess up the spring rate and properties of the coils.

best way to cut them is an angle grinder with a heavy duty cut off wheel. go slow and keep taking breaks to let the coils cool down. doesnt take too long to do.
