Just be careful where you shop this unit at. Make sure they are authorized by Alpine to sell Alpine products...don't take a website's claim for it, check with Alpine.

We sold out of our first two allotments at $1000, so we don't see any reason to discount it. We have had it on sale once already, and it went for $900.

Here's the reason you ought to be careful when shopping around. We've sold over 20 of these things from my store alone, and we've already had a fair amount of these come back with issues. Everything from poor sound quality, zero FM reception, pixel-out's to just out-and-out dead. Of course, we just swap the unit and send the defective one back to Alpine. With inventory getting tight on these, exchanges might be delayed for awhile. We're about a week out already for new sales.

If you didn't buy it from Alpine getting it repaired might be a problem, I talk to people everyday that have problems with websites and the like not responding to emails or refusing to honor any sort of warranty...implied or not.
